--Where to study in London for social work?--?

We Answered:

This is the website where you'd apply for the course. It gives you a list of the universities with social work programs and its entry requirements, fees etc.:

Where could I study/work with a laptop and wireless internet in London?

We Answered:

There is a great website that I have used bofore for this and it was very reliable and I got wifi with out any troubles. Not sure if in some places you need a password that is provided by staff. This website has places all around central london and it's surrounding areas. It has logo's for the catagory of place it falls in, such as bar, hotel and cafe. So you get loads of things different from the usual Starbucks.
So here is the link and I hope this helps!

Hi...Is it practical to work/study in London while living in Brighton?

We Answered:

My friend works in London and lives in Brighton. It takes him 2 hours each way in travelling and it costs him £42 a day to take the train to work.

That's a lot of money to travel and a lot of time!!

US citizen (18 years old) going to study/work/live in London ( Im a lifeguard and a licensed cosmetologist)?

We Answered:

Come on over and enjoy yourself I hope it works out and you have a great time.

Okay firstly you know it is expensive, but you have that covered and your right Manhattan isn't cheap so no a problem.

Places like Camden and Brixton really are not that bad, A high Crime area to an English person would be considered a nice quiet neighbourhood to many hardened City dwellers in America.

The website www.metpolice.co.uk will give you a full breakdown on crime figures in London and it is even broken down into a street by street basis. So you have plenty of choice in looking for safe places to move to. The best defence is just to be sensible, your a woman from a big tough city already you know how things work and what to watch out for just keep that up in london and you should be fine.

As for where to live in general and using your qualifications for work, honestly forget the lifeguard one, you already know we are at least 30 miles from the nearest beach, and there are not that many pools in the city so unlikely to be a great deal of vacancies.

The therapy one could be a real winner for you, according to international research the british (both men and women) spend the most money per head in the world on beathy products and treatments. that means there are a LOT of salons around and while lots of people are doing the work the demand is still high, i think your best bet of work will be in that area unless of course you try something completely different. Not sure about pay here, doubt lifeguards in swimming pools will be paid much, beathicains proberbly depending on how many clients they get etc.

I think the biggest difference you will find in London to NY student culture is the drinking, I mean the boys and girls here REALLY drink, you will be out EVERY night drinking it is legal from 18 but most of your peers here will have been drinking for a few years before that, I think having talked to many Americans that is the thing they find the most different.

I wish you all the luck in the world, do come over, keep an open mind and enjoy everything the worlds greatest city has to offer.

if your tired of London
then your tired of life
