English Teaching Resources

Arnold Said:

I have a chance to teach English in Mexico. What are some good teaching resources to use if I am chosen?

We Answered:

The best and most overlooked way to improve classroom education of any kind is to introduce the use of boardgames. I have taught for over ten years all over the world, and only when I use boardgames do students voluntarily insist on extending their classes for two, three, even four hours. Not only that but they then show the most rapid improvement.

Give it a try and you will be amazed. At least you will be helping to break the monopoly that the big textbook publishers have over the education industry.

Mario Said:

How do I find resources and/or references for finding a job teaching English overseas in Japan? Help me please

We Answered:

Quite a few of those teaching English in Japan have blogs on eblogger or livejournal. There are groups on facebook as well.

Some websites include ithinkimlost.com, farstrider.net, bigdaikon.com, gaijinpot.com.

There are a couple of books on Amazon.com about teaching English in Japan, although be careful as some are outdated. Take a look around and see if you can find them in your local bookstore.

Good luck!
