Second grade teacher-I want to know the best resources to get free things for my classroom!?

We Answered:

Try the businesses you frequent. For example, banks often give away pens, pencils, plastic cups, etc with their logos on them for advertising purposes, but that your kids could use. County libraries and many businesses usually have a back stock room of old decorations, wallborders, and such they are no longer using that can be used in your classroom for crafts and decorations. For crafts, ask parents/kids to save items for you, such as eggcrates, plastic cups, popsicle sticks or other household things you can use. Party supply stores will often make donations or sell cheap items they no longer stock. Libraries and second hand book stores are usually willing to donate childrens books. Don't be afraid to ask. Most places will help. Good luck.

Local businesses might actually help. The Internet offers things from time to time. You have to be willing to search.

What is an easy and free resource teachers could use to create class websites?

We Answered:

I just found a new site that I love for my class website. It is called wikispaces. Just type wikispaces into the Google search engine. The site is free for teachers. It takes a little time and patience to get the hang of it, but they do offer several tutorials (which I highly reccommend watching before you begin). Also, you can try schoolnotes.com. It's also free, and it's extremely easy to use, but doesn't have nearly the bells and whistles that wikispaces has. Depends on the type of time you have to put into it on the front end. Good Luck!

You may wanna check out Dave's (eslcafe dot com). A lot of ESL/EFL teachers from Korea hang out on the site. You can join the forums to get more infos and there's a list of some ideas for the classroom.
