How To Get Into Teaching

Victor Said:

What are the requirements for getting back into teaching?

We Answered:

If you have a Bachelors degree, most states will still honor that- especially if it is in teaching. You, more than likely, will have to go to each states dept of education and review whats needed online or give them a call- you may be on hold for a bit but they will be of the best help.

I would assume you can get back into teaching with a Bachelors starting this summer through an alternative route to licensure program (and teaching would begin next fall with classes in the evening- theyll probably make you take masters level coursework to get back up to date- not the worst thing given teaching full time nowadays really requires that degree anyways- too much competition for jobs without).

hello there i have been on a career break for a while and would like to get back into teaching, help?

We Answered:

First it's going to depend on how long you've been out of teaching. If you've been out of teaching for ten years, you will definitely need to update your credentials and take some courses. If it's only a year or two and your coursework qualifies you to teach, I would just go ahead and apply for teaching positions. You will, of course, need to indicate what you did during your teaching hiatus. Hopefully it was something valuable or you can explain it as such.

Audrey Said:

How can a person go into teaching with a degree from another country?

We Answered:

what u can do is to check with the education board on her status. get copy of her dip/degree and see what they say. most often they would accept it without further need for certifications. better still if she has several years teaching experience. testimonials would help. she could begin teaching within 4 to 6 months if the edu board agrees. it boils down to the person checking through her papers.
it will help if u both r married, shows seriousness. btw, which city r u in?
all the best for a happy marriage
