How To Teach Writing
Susan Said:
Most classes and books on creative writing teach only how to write an action novel,do you agree? We Answered:
I definitely agree! And most of them deal with adult action novels, above all, which is just ignoring the genre of teen fiction. But the whole, start with a bang, add on to the suspense, man versus man deal is action novel, all the way.I wish there was an inexpensive way to cover teen fiction, regular creative writing, thought-provoking stories, and just great writing.
Good question, have a star. =)

Can I open my own private writing studio and teach writing if I do not have a teaching certificate/degree?We Answered:
as long as it is a private business and does not call itself a school you can...you will have to sell your clients on your ability to teach based on your experience...Jordan Said:

Can anyone recommend writing process software that a teacher and her class can use online? We Answered:
I don't know of a specific software that is pre-written to walk through the writing process but there are lots of teaching methods and the one my district uses "Step Up To Writing" has templates available, using "Inspiration".Inspiration is a great writing assist software because it can support many different learning styles. As a special education teacher, I will scaffold by building the graphic organizer. Students can then use that to organizer their ideas or switch to outline mode and add details (pre-write). Once they have their information we use the SUTW template to build the paragraphs (draft). The then review with a peer to be sure they agree on the organization (edit) and make any changes (revise). Finally they export to a word processor (publish).
You can download a free trial of Inspiration at http://www.inspiration.com/ and templates are found through out the Internet. Scholastic has a pretty good deal on price if your district doesn't have a quantity price.

I teach Writing 1010 at a local university. I need some ideas on assignments.?We Answered:
At the university where I taught, in the intro writing classes we had them do a persuasive essay, a compare/contrast essay, a definition essay, a literature analysis, and a research paper. Maybe you could use some of those ideas.Jonathan Said:
Help : how do you teach a Kindergartner writing ?We Answered:
That's too bad that CLASS is so strict. You may wish to consider another HS'ing curriculum. You do *not* need transcripts for Kindergarten. It sounds like you need much more freedom in HS'ing. This is more like private school at home. Sorry, JMO.If you do want to help him, I suggest using Handwriting Without Tears. It was developed by an occupational therapist (who deal with fine motor delays) for her own son. It is a wonderful program and we've used it for over 5 years, from 5-10 yrs old for my son. It is gentle, has fun ways to remember how to form letters, and very good with results. It's also very inexpensive.

**EDITED TO ADD: this is VERY normal for boys. It took my son forever to build up handwriting stamina. For that reason, we did a lot of his work orally for the first few years as he built it up.
