I Want To Teach

How to i stop my dogs from pooping in the house?

We Answered:

I get the impression you are talking about grown dogs and not puppies, so I will not give you my potty training advice since it is aimed at puppies.

I would show your dog the poop, but NOT rub their face in it or yell at him because you DO NOT want him to think that pooping is bad or to make him angry with you. Then take the dog and the poop outside where you want him to poop and then put the poop there and show the dog. Everytime the dog poops where you want him to, reward him.

When you are outside waiting for him to poop, actually WAIT until he poops and tell him "good potty" and praise him.

Be patient and consistent. Take them out about a half hour after eating. And maybe pay attention to signs that they may have to go out. DIfferent dogs do different things. They might just sit and stare at you, or sit in front of the door, or paw at the door, or sniff around, or walk in circles. There are so many things they might do. You just need to watch and learn your dogs "language". That will help a lot.

Good luck.

I realize your dog is not a puppy, but this method works with any dog that needs leash training.
It worked very well with one of my Miniature Schnauzers that at age 3 refused to get off her butt and walk on a leash. This really works.

What are easy graduate schools to get to?

We Answered:

One way to raise that GPA is to go to your local college and take advanced classes non-degree. Maybe English classes that interest you would be good- if you hated Chaucer, avoid that period. If you love Shakespeare take a course on literature of that time. This will help you do better.

Even 2 or 3 classes will show that you are more serious and ready to do academic work. Some schools may even let you do an MS level class non-degree to see if it's for you. If you do well it shows you can make it in the program.

Full-time college isn't for everybody, by the way. Maybe taking one at a time while working will be the way to go. You use the time to research grad schools and find an MSED that has a minimum GPA requirement of 2.5. They may be forgiving, especially if you show better work and have held a job.

Teaching is not only about knowing the material well, but about being able to work with the students- how they respond to you, how you convey information, etc. Also consider shadowing a teacher for a day before enrolling in grad work. This will give you a good sense of whether you want to invest in the MS.

Lots of people have a low GPA at age 21, then get it together later and go on to do graduate work.

Good luck.

I want to dance, but at home?

We Answered:

Unless you have a sprung or floating floor like a dance studio (and I doubt you would have that at home), you stand the risk of injuring your knees and joints and developing tendinitis. Talk about expensive...you should price what a floor like that costs. If the place you took class didn't teach you anything, how do you know what to teach yourself? How do you know what corrections you will need to do things correctly without injuring yourself or at best creating bad habits that will be hard to break if you ever did try to study and learn how to do it correctly. What you do may look correct to you, but you could be engaging the wrong muscles. Learning the correct way is hard enough to do in a studio with a teacher helping you learn how to feel those muscles and engage them.
You should know that professional dancers do not practice at home or teach themselves at home. They take dance classes every day. Even on days of a performance. They save home for stretching. They realize they need a real dance floor and full length mirrors and a dance master/mistress to correct anything they are doing wrong so as not to become sloppy.
If that school wasn't good, find another, but don't try to learn to dance at home. If you don't injure yourself (and you will if you really dance enough to gain any benefit ) you will only learn how to do things incorrectly.

How do you teach english concepts to a Chinese person when you don't know Chinese?

We Answered:

Pictures and realia go a long way. When people see something that they recognize and hear the word repeatedly, they will remember the word more than if they just heard it alone.
