Maria Said:
How do you apply/look for a teaching job in NYC?We Answered:
If you want to teach in NYc your best bet is to go to the Teach NYC website. They have all salary info, requirements, job fair info, etc there. Job fairs are your best way of getting a job there as they do not post future jobs on a steady basis. Information on scheduling an interview also there. Certification is a lengthy process but reciprocity agreements with PA should take care of that. You should check their website asap so you will be realy for Sept.Unfortunately, without experience or really good connections it is very difficult to get a job in the surrounding areas, like Westchester County.
History / Social Studies is also not a high demand area.
Good luck.

How do I go about getting a job teaching others to design and build leaded glass windows? We Answered:
Do you have any credentials that you could offer the college so that they can offer it as part of their art curriculuum? You could try teaching it at night, as a stained glass class for adult education, pays 20-25 a hour normally. Or at lest where i live it does.
I am sorry, I assumed that leaded glass windows would be the same thing as stained glass.

How can I get a job teaching at a public school in Saint Louis County? We Answered:
I have several suggestions:1. After you've filed your appication packet (and resume, etc) with human resource offices, send another letter directly to principals of the schools you want to work at. Let the principal know that you admire the school and that you're interested in interviewing with him/her. Attach a copy of your resume. Why does this work? a) Human resource offices are notorious for ignoring people. b) Principals have more direct control over who is hired.
2. Be sure your cover letter stands out. Use a little color in the letterhead. Don't be afraid to boldface any important keywords. Use bulleted points in your cover letter-- that really makes it stand out from the sea of "normal" letters.
3. Network. Network. Network. If you know ANYONE that teaches in the schools you're applying to, have them put in a good work for you. Principals often listen to recommendations from other teachers and staff-- it can get you an interview as a professional courtesy.
4. Have someone proofread your cover letter and resume. Don't hoose someone who glances at your papers and says, "It's fine." Find a proofreader who actually makes worthwhile suggestions. Simple spelling mistakes and grammar goofs can prevent you from getting calls.
I hope this helps a little. I know of a really good eBook abnout getting teaching jobs that will probably help you-- It called, "Guide to Getting the Teaching Job of Your Dreams." It's at: http://www.iwantateachingjob.com It had information and advice about finding and applying for teaching jobs, common teacher interview questions and answers, etc. Maybe the book can give you some good ideas.
Best of luck to you!!
P.S. I love St. Louis-- beautiful city-- been there several times before.

How difficult is it to get a full time job at a community college teaching mathematics? We Answered:
depends on where u want to teachand how high the demand is, in some places they are hiring but like always theres is no DATA to show they need more professors.
some comm. colleges improvise schedules and effciently use their prof wisely. to not overhire
and ONE needs almost excellent skills/resume/background/experience you have teaching.
if your lucky, you'll start part time lecturer, but if massive budget cuts occur like here in CA, you can easily lose that job.
you need alot of experience to keep it.
