I have a friend who moved to Ontario a couple years ago to get married. She volunteered in a school for a year to show her stuff, then got hired on as supply. After one year of supply teaching, she got a permanent position (in the GTA).

I'm not sure why you're limiting yourself to those two options, though. Why not Australia, or somewhere else in Canada?

Depends what you want to do. If it's teaching then you need a PGCE or QTS certificate.

Look through the league tables and go to the lowest ones...no-one really wants to teach at them so they always have vacancies, but if you're after experience then it'd be good, and having worked at a place like that gets you Kudos when applying for future jobs, especially if you have a good record with the kids there. That's what one of my teachers did before they came to my grammar school. :)

There are plenty - many people are desperate to opt out of the state system which is poor in London (and not helped by that very fact). Look for ads in the appropriate press.
