Methods Of Teaching
Julian Said:
How can I modify teaching methods to fit certain disabilities? We Answered:
This doesn't necessarily have to be PE. It can be for any academic area. So if you have a child who has fine motor difficulties and has difficulty writing and the goal of the assignment is for the child to demonstrate their understanding of photosynthesis you may allow this child to dictate their answers or report and allow and adult to type it, have the child respond orally to the teacher or record her answers on a tape recorder. This still meets the requirements of the assignment but allows a different mode of output that takes the child's disability into account.Children who have difficulty processing or understanding verbal language may be given copies of the classroom notes or use guided notes (fill in the blanks instead of writing down everything said). For activities that involve multi-step directions the teacher may provide them with written or visual directions to help them complete all the steps in the activity. Think about a specific child's disability and would an assignment have to be modified in its input presentation to the child or could the requirements for the output/ final product be modified so the child could demonstrate their knowledge of the content in a different way.

What are some good methods of teaching? We Answered:
I find that letting students "discover" answers for themselves helps them remember the material better. I realize it's hard to discover maths, but in other subjects it can work wonders. Just give them some tasks that they should do and let them discover. Of course the discussion during and after wards is the most important part. For example, in teaching foreign languages (which is what I do) give the students example sentences using the type of grammar you are trying to teach and let them discover rules and guidelines for themselves. Letting them do this in groups intensifies the learning experience since they can try out ideas before presenting the idea to the whole class.

What is the difference between teaching methods and learning strategies? We Answered:
Teaching methods are the ways in which information is presented to a student. Learning strategies are about how the student studies the materials. So the first is more about what the instructor does, and the second is more about what the student does.Judy Said:
Are there different methods of teaching pointe work?We Answered:
Each of the major ballet styles has it's own way. Vaganova, Cecchetti, French school, British school, Balanchine and Danish (less used), all have their own methods of teaching pointe that complement their style of ballet. There are of course some basic strong similarities among them do to the nature of pointe work.Janice Said:
