Your chances are VERY good. Check out this site. They actually travel to YOUR state and conduct interviews. I was hired on the spot in May, but turned it down later b/c NYC is too large of a city for me and the cost of living is much higher than here. Good luck!

However, there is currently a hiring freeze due to the economy for public schools except for shortage subject areas and poor locations. Otherwise, you need to look for a private or parochial school.
