North Carolina Teaching Jobs
Allison Said:
Are teaching jobs hard to find in North Carolina & Nevada? We Answered:
Yes, they are hard to find. About 4-5 years ago, it was very easy to get jobs in Nevada. Now, with the economic troubles, it's very challenging.NC may still be a bit easier than average, but that doesn't mean that it's easy.

I want a teaching job.?We Answered:
Yes, North Carolina is hiring like crazy... I am surprised that they said it's early in the hiring season, though... most schools have begun the hiring process.... but I imagine most districts will still be interviewing for another month or so....The lateral entry program brings wonderful experience to the profession..... And NC hires lots of lateral entry people!
A few tips---
1. In North Carolina, jobs are more readily available than other places in the country. But if you're not getting calls for interviews, give copies of your resume directly to school principals... along with a nice letter of interest. Walk it in and shake their hand. Princiapsl have direct control over the hiring process. If they've met you, they'll be more likely to want to interview you.
2. When you interview-- any time they ask you how you WOULD do something... tell them how you've ALREADY DONE it in the past. This will make you seem more experienced.
3. Build a good portfolio... use it to show off your knowledge and experience at interviews. Some people DO get hired without portfolios-- but it makes you seem like a much more professional and prepared candidate.
Here's a good eBook that might be able to help you. It's "Guide to Getting a Teaching Job." It has 50 common teacher interview questions and answers.... resume and cover letter tips..... advice for finding jobs... etc.... Maybe the book can help you. It's at: http://www.iwantateachingjob.com (hahah... the url is the same as your question... odd coincidence.... maybe a sign. :-) )
Best of luck to you!!!

What are tracks in education in North Carolina? We Answered:
In Utah they have tracks in elementary school, I am not sure if it is the same in NC but it refered to the times the kids went to school, meaning when they had their breaks each track had a different scheduled break.
