Physics Teaching Jobs
Constance Said:
What kind i jobs can physics major get?We Answered:
If you like Physics go for it. There is a lot of scope in it if you have done your Home work.If you specialise in astro physics you have a direct preference to NASA, ISRO or IUCAA(pune)
Then in electrophysics you have scope in the electronic industry.
Through geophysics you can study the physical aspects of the earth which can give you a post equivalent to a civil engineer.
Acoustics(MY FAVOURITE) can make you a consultant for the construction of auditoriums, concert halls etc. IT can also give you a job in the music making gadget industry.
Nuclear Physics can be your ticket to a nuclear power station or in the making of a nuclear weapon (which I really do not like because of the destruction it causes)
I hope this will if not satisfy at least give you an idea of the scope of physics.

what kind of jobs can i get with a BS in physics? We Answered:
A bachelor’s degree in physics offers many potential career opportunities. With just a B.S. in physics, one could pursue careers in computer programming, finance, and engineering, amongst others. Someone with a degree in physics generally has well-developed problem solving skills, a strong mathematical background, and often has a fair bit of programming experience. These skills transfer well into the career fields listed above. Additionally, teaching physics (or possibly even math) at the high school level is another viable career choice. However, working in “pure physics” with only a bachelor’s degree is more difficult to accomplish. Generally one needs at least a master’s degree, and more commonly a PhD, in order to work doing just physics (as opposed to some form of engineering or other tangentially related career). If you would like to work tangentially in physics, then just getting a B.S. in physics might be all you need. Depending on just what you want to do, it might also be wise to take many of your electives in a particular field, or add second major. For example, if you want to work for a semiconductor / microchip company, having a strong background in electrical engineering would be quite beneficial.
So in short, any field where mathematics skills and the ability to critically reason through a problem is potentially open to you with a degree in physics, such as engineering, computer science and finance fields, not to mention teaching.
The American Institute of Physics collects a great deal of data concerning the employment of people with physics degrees. The below link has a great deal of information about companies who are hiring physics bachelors as well as information about the sectors of employment most people with a bachelors in physics are hired,

Besides teaching, what are high paying jobs for somebody with a Ph.D in physics? We Answered:
I earned a 6 figure salary as a rocket engineer (I did reentry vehicle analyses and preliminary designs for SAMs, and did the project proposal for the airborne laser weapon) for Lockheed Martin with an MS. When I earned my PhD, while there, they automatically hiked my salary by 5%.But the real money is in management. Unfortunately, being a tekkie does little in preparing one for strong management skills. Experience (and a textbook or two) are the best teachers. So if I were you, I'd take my PhD and try to find a way to take the lead in some project or part of a project, to gain management skills. Work your way up to Program Manager and have a successful program or two under you belt; then you can shoot for COO or even CEO in an R and D company. Then you'll be making the big bucks. Does your school have a physics teacher? We Answered:
Chances are you'll be asked to teach other subjects along with physics. At least to start. Physics is the least offered of science courses at high schools. There would have to be a fairly large enrollment to make the 150 or so students you'd need for a full load. (remember that a high school student often only needs it once in their 4 years, many do not take at all) A second problem is that as a new teacher, you'll find that others at the school are already teaching the courses - you'll have to build up some seniority. The research I found says that only ten percent of physics teachers have no other preps.
Good luck.

Do people qualified to teach high school physics easily find a job?We Answered:
I'm a physics major, and I hope to god there is more to do with that degree than teach. I would never, ever want to teach. I plan on going to grad school for Astrophysics, then try to work for NASA or some other space research institute.
