Your best bet would be to look at QCA programmes of study to get an idea of the breadth of work undertaken in primaries.
If you get the opportunity why not ask your LA for a temporary exchange with a teacher in a local primary school. That way you'll see if you can handle the extra paper work without committing yourself to the move.

I recommend total immersion techniques. They are available online. A good model is Pueblo Ingles ( English Town) in Spain. You might find similar enterprises in your location.

i would suggest items that aren't normally furnished in a classroom:

large easel books
flannel story sets
science items (microscope, magnifying glasses, bug collection boxes)
special, seasonal story books (holidays, etc)
dress up items (clip on earrings, large bead necklaces, hats, scarves)
large grip pencils (for early writers. the big, round ones. i always cut them in half and that doubles your quantity. it is also easier for the little writers to grasp)
bulletin board boarders (dollar tree)
