Private School Teaching Jobs
Alma Said:
Does anyone teach at a private school? We Answered:
I taught at a private Catholic high school for several years. Student behaviour was a lot better, which made classroom discipline much easier. As parents were paying school fees, they tended to give a lot more support. You knew that if a problem did occur, a telephone call home would often solve it.Salary was on the low side. We also had to put in a lot of extracurricular hours, going on camps and retreats. It was also a very tough place for a non-religious person to teach, as every other week there was a mass.

What are some school-related jobs besides teaching? We Answered:
Counselor or librarian. You'll be around the kids, but you won't have to worry about dealing with parents all the time.Bruce Said:
Teaching in a public school or a private school? We Answered:

private school teaching job/soccer coach...?We Answered:
it should be easy to transition into teaching, especially at a private school. i teach at a public school and i coach club soccer also. i have coached high school ball also and it doesn't really matter what license you have.the requirements to teach at a private school are much more lenient as opposed to a public school, where you would have to take a series of state mandated tests as well as join an expensive credential program.
do not switch careers expecting to make a ton of cash in coaching and teaching. private schools are more lenient but also pay significantly less.
let me ask you... do you get paid to coach club? did you play professionally? Do you have a Masters degree?
if you do have a masters, you should try to get a Junior college coaching job and go from there

Teaching in a private school...?We Answered:
At private schools quality teaching is appreciated. The teacher has the freedom to be creative and effective. Discipline issues are minimal and class size is smaller. Teachers feel safe in most private schools. Private school pays about $30,000 annually for a faculty with work experience upto 5 years. Plus benefits like health insurance, disability benefit, leave programs (sick, personal, holidays), retirement plans, life insurance, savings plans, tuition reimbursement for continuing education, employee assistance program (EAP) and mental health benefits, meals, reduced or free tuition for children and housing (at boarding schools).
