Science Teaching Jobs

Beverly Said:

Will it be easier to find a teaching job teaching social science or earth-space science?

We Answered:

Science as a subject is considered one of the high risk areas, that is to say there are not enough teachers to go around. The other high risk areas are Mathematics and Special Education.

Earth-Space science is quite a small slice of the science pie so to speak, however if you combine it with another science or a mathematics minor you might have a chance. As another option you might want to try for a science composite at the secondary level. Reference the Florida Department of Education at http://www.fldoe.org/ for additional information.

spain, teaching jobs in spain, science?

We Answered:

Most jobs in Spains education sector offered for foreigners are those of teaching english. Science isn't really a easy to find teaching job. International schools as well focus on teaching the english language. You could try searching here:

Marie Said:

I want to get out of teaching, what other jobs can I do?(cert.elem.ed, science and history)?

We Answered:

IT is always big but you may need training. Known several teachers who got out and into IT as a career. Have you thought of looking at your nearest University for their research fellowships? Not sure if it would be your thing as I don't know what it entails but you never know.

Museum work? There are science museums that have education officers and you usually need a teaching qualification for that. You'd still be working with kids but its a more varied job as you would be interpreting the museum for them and they would go home at the day's end. You'd need lesson plans but non of the individual reports on kids as you do in school. Its not a very well paid career, but it is interesting. try www.museumsassociation.org for jobs and advice.

Irma Said:

is it difficult to find teaching jobs after graduating now?

We Answered:

Yes, teaching jobs are generally hard to find. However, in addition to jobs teaching science or math, jobs teaching special education, bilingual education, and English as a second language are also relatively easy to find. In my community people without licenses often get emergency permits to teach in these five areas.
