South Carolina Teaching Jobs

Judith Said:

Hometown college? Where should i go?

We Answered:

I myself live in NC so I might be able to help you. From what I have gathered, North Carolina State University(Raleigh), University of North Carolina(Chapel Hill), East Carolina University(Greenville) and University of North Carolina at Wilmington(Beach!) have great schools of education. I have not, however, heard of UNCG being one of the better schools for education. UNCG's specialty is music. One benefit of going to school in North Carolina is the large amount of growth we are experiencing, Because of the large growth, the school systems in NC are becoming much larger meaning you will have more job options. Also, living expenses are low in NC; so, you will be able to do more with your salary. Since you want to be a history major, that is even more beneficial. NC is very short on history teachers. Overall, NC is a very warm, friendly place to live.

Hope I helped! Let me know if you have any more questions.

Vernon Said:

What is the job market like for elementary teachers in the washington Metro area?

We Answered:

This is probably not a reliable forum for that kind of question.

But, I would take a short trip up there and visit the district office for the details on jobs. There are free online sites to compare the cost-of-living of different cities you may want to check out, also. Many factors may affect your decision-- like if your incomes will make it worthwhile to leave a comfortable place. Are you ready to uproot?

Is teaching a good career to go into?

We Answered:

In my opinion Teaching is a very stress full job, especially in 2006, where the kids can do as they want and get away with it. James

Should I move to Columbia, South Carolina?

We Answered:

I moved to Columbia, SC from Michigan when I was in middle school and lived there 15 yrs.

Pros: low cost of living, decent economic growth, plenty of nice areas in town to live, 2-3 hrs gets you to several nice beaches, college town with a good nightlife/music scene, great recreational lakes (Murray and Wateree), decent restaurants, pretty girls

Cons: hot/humid in the summer, lamentations of the loss of Confederacy *still* abound, buddy-boy politics and corruption, pollen (if that bothers you), fanatical Gamecock fans, southern drawl, "Y'all", etc.

Hard to give advice on whether or not you should go, but you should take a trip there, look into the job situation and really consider it. Even if you move and aren't satisfied, Indiana will still welcome you back.
