Summer Teaching Jobs

Summer Teaching Jobs - What Are The Advantages of a Summertime Teaching Job?We Answered:
The biggest advantage (other than the extra cash) is the opportunity to gain supplementary teaching experience in an informal and less stressful teaching environment.Craigslist has one of the largest postings for summer teaching positions in the US. You can also look at freelance sites and community colleges to land a temp position for the summer months.
Another trend that's catching up in recent times is the prospect of teaching jobs abroad. With the great demand for teachers worldwide, there's a position you can aim for, both as a teacher and a tutor.

Is it true that high school seniors can get jobs in korea over the summer by teaching english? We Answered:
I'm going to give you the scoop, since I'm currently living here and teaching English to several students privately. Yes, there are some schools who will hire you, just because you speak English. But these are not generally "schools" you would want to work for, they are corner academies. They are infamous for not paying well, and sometimes not paying what they promised to begin with. They will not provide you a place to live, nor any real kind of help getting around. Most of the prime teaching spots, in decent schools or academies, will want you to have credentials of some sort beyond your high school diploma. That means certification in ESL, and a degree- unless you have a lot of experience teaching ESL. Although your parents are Korean, unless you have actually experienced life here, it can be a major shock to your system. Since you speak the language, that at least won't be part of the challenge. However, the day to day living things can be. Just finding a spot to live in can be a major undertaking. Places that will be willing to rent for such a short period of time can leave a lot to be desired, especially coming from a home in the States. I highly suggest you find a job in the States, and study at university if you want to get into teaching ESL here. With degree in hand, your choices of prime spots are a lot better, and the conditions of your contract will be better as well. Right now your only qualification is that you speak the language and have been taught the grammer. That isn't exactly the same as being qualified to teach it. The Koreans are wanting to learn English badly, and have their children learn as well- and it's not fair to them to have unqualified people teaching them. Because of the drive to learn English, there are lots of fly by night academies here, and I do personally know of a few of the young adults hired to teach being stuck unexpectedly. One of them arrived ready to teach, only to find the doors locked and nobody knowing where the owners went. She got stiffed for a month of wages, and was very fortunate to have parents who could afford her ticket back on such short notice. Others have ended up at the embassy, and although they do get back- it can take days to make those arrangements. So honestly, if you are determined to do this in spite of what I tell you, be very careful of the contract and get your parents to read it all first before you sign. What ever you do, don't just come and expect to find work. It's not that easy. But if you are willing to invest the time to get the ESL certification and training, it's a good place to work and teach, and you will likely enjoy it very much.David Said:
Know of any teaching jobs this summer in San Diego? We Answered:
try the san diego zoo or sea world. both have day camps and overnight camps. teachers are needed for those positions during the summer. might not pay very much, but it seems very fun and it's rewarding. apply now if you are interested.as for landing a teaching position for summer school, those jobs are usually taken first by resident teachers who are already teaching at the public schools. you could try the private schools.

Teaching jobs in the US during the summer? We Answered:
Many schools offer enrichment opportunities over the Summer, a foreign language would probably be a great class during this time. Summer School is an option too (for kids who need extra help or failed classes and need to make them up), but many employers offer these jobs to the regular teachers first so the chances of someone else getting a job for Summer School is low.Casey Said:
Could I get a summer teaching job abroad with only one year of university? We Answered:
ITALY... teaching children english, you live in the homes of people and teach their children and work at a day camp while getting paid!!Ray Said:
how can a prep teacher land a summer teaching job in china? We Answered:
Honestly, there are different restrictions for each country when traveling and working abroad. It is very very difficult for Filipinas to get a visa accepted in many places. Another problem is that most schools do not want a person to come and teach for such a short period of time. I assume that you are hoping the school will also pay for your transportation costs. This is highly unlikely. You can sometimes get a school to pay for your travel expenses if you get a one year contract. So in conclusion, if you have a lot of money and can therefore get a visa as a tourist, and you can find a temporary job while you are there, then you may be able to pull it off. I will give you one bit of help. Check out gaijinpot.com It will list teaching jobs available in both Japan and China. Good Luck but do not hold your breath while you wait... smile
