Teach English In France
Deanna Said:
Would an English A Level and TEFL be enough to teach English in France? We Answered:
In general you'll need a degree and a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate to get a visa and work. The degree can be in almost any subject as it is usually required for the visa only so you will find teachers with a degree in Engineering or Sociology. Having said this, to help get the job it's obviously better to be English or language related, for example a degree in English literature.
The TEFL certificate can be taken either in-house or online at your own pace which is a much cheaper option (see http://icalweb.com).

How would I go about going from Ireland to teach English in France for the summer? (?We Answered:
Your best bet would probably be to go for a summer camp. Most countries in Europe have camps that run for various dates throughout the summer; I've had friends work in Spain, Italy and Switzerland for sure. I don't know of any particular camps in France, but you might just googling EFL summer camps or something like that. Summer camps usually include food, accomodation and a small salary. Getting a job at an actual language school for the summer will be next to impossible, and they would likely not arrange accomodation for you.Dean Said:
What would it be like to teach English in France? We Answered:
Your post is from the USA. Unless you are a citizen of the European Union, it is no longer possible for foreigners to decide to come, live and work in France. If you want to be able to move to France, you have to be fluent in French, have a degree in a discipline where your skills and knowledge are in special demand, have been offered a job by an organisation that is already established there, been granted a long stay visa (which usually is is only for three years maximum) , work and residence permit.
Your dream may be to live in France and teach English there, but you will not be allowed to do so unless you have exceptional qualifications in your own country which make you desirable as a University Professor. English/American Literature and language are not considered particularly valuable skills. There are hundreds of French and British graduates with good degrees in English, who also have teaching qualifications and are entitled to teach in France, and are desperately looking for jobs. Many are on the poverty line and have to do other things such as work in Mc Donald's or do low paid jobs to earn a living. Unemployment is at 10% in France.
If you want to stand a chance to be allowed to settle in France for any length of time, you have to study for a degree in Sciences or Medicine , Engineering, International Law, or International Business studies, have proved your competence in your own country, and must have be offered a job whilst still in America before you are granted a long stay visa.
If you want to study in France, you have to have an adequate knowledge of French, have a required education level or certain qualifications, and be able to support yourself financially whilst you are studying, and are not allowed to work more than a few hours a week. Since university towns are full of impoverished students seeking part-time jobs, and so many people are out of work, it is not easy to earn enough to keep you going.
Nowadays,it is as hard for foreigners to move to the EU as it is for European citizens to get a green card and be allowed to remain and work in America.

What qualifications are best to teach English in France? We Answered:
CELTA is good. An English degree and CELTA is even better. You don't necessarily need to have the other qualifications but it depends where you want to work and at what level.Dan Said:
How would you teach English in France if you don't really know French? We Answered:
French immersion is living among the local without much access to your own language speakers. So you need to have working knowledge of French as a minimum.Suzanne Said:
Better place to teach English: France or Japan? We Answered:
Well in Japan, you also have to think about all other things (for example how the country is such a small size while so many people live there and how much your living costs would be). But in Japan students are also pressured to do good in school because of how crowded Japan is and all the competition. It is true you dont need to know much Japanese to teach them.I would love to help you with France but I dont know much about it T_T
