Requirements to teach in London? We Answered:
I'd be very surprised if your Masters in primary education wouldn't be enough for you to get QTS (qualified teacher status) in the UK without any further courses. The website below is really useful and should be able to give you some definitive answers.Cindy Said:
Do you know of any schools or colleges that teach Ancient history and Latin at A-level or GSCE?We Answered:
Most major independent schools teach Classical Civilisation and/or Latin. Most maintained schools don't.Clarence Said:
thinking to emigrate to Australia from London and teach there- any ideas? We Answered:
You will start at the bottom of the pay scale or where your degree places you (lowest is a 4 year Bachelor degree - a Masters puts you 2 years up and a PhD another two years up in most states). Experience teaching in another country does not count to the teaching pay. The pay scale in each state is different (starting 45-60K) but after 7 years they are all about the same level (e.g. SA increments are higher than NSW but the starting ay for SA is lower). You will hve to attend an interview with the state department and that will determing your "score" and that "score" determines whether you get assigned a FT position in your first year and where. If you decline a position (because of location for instance) you will be placed on the bottom of the list. Each school is also assigned a score and you earn that for every year you teach and can use that score to transfer to a better school. Teaching at a bad school might give you 3-4 points a year and you might have to hav 20 or so points to transfer to a better one.Unless you are a maths or science teacher you will have trouble finding a FT position and may have to move to the rural areas. New graduates in the humanities have to spend several years teaching casually until they secure a FT position.
