Teaching And Learning Strategies

Leah Said:

What are the long term strategies/or strategies to develop poetry teaching/learning in primary schools?

We Answered:

Ha ha- I'm a Primary School teacher and I can tell you there are none!
Although I find poetry a wonderful topic to teach, it's not a priority as it doesn't appear very often on SATs papers! I would like to assume that all teachers teach it to the best of their ability, but there are no national strategies in place to enhance it I'm afraid.

How do teachers use a variety of different teaching and learning styles and strategies?

We Answered:

Planning is important for both things you ask. Different teaching styles should reflect different learning styles, a range of which could be in every class so there should be a variety over a day and over a subject over time. Teachers should decide exactly what the additional adults will be doing, with whom and the purpose eg specific or general support, additional challenge, assessment, behaviour management. this needs to be communicated clearly to the additional adults so that they understand what is required of them.

How do effective teaching strategies enhance the learning process for students studying the game of tennis? ?

We Answered:

When you are just starting to play tennis it can be tedious because it takes a lot of practice to hit the ball, and hit it in the court, and hit it where you want it. There are lots of details in the strokes- if your racket face is off by an inch it can change where the ball lands by 3 feet! Tennis is not like basketball or swimming where you can just pick it up and be able to play it decently! Especially with kids, you want to keep tennis fun and entertaining by playing little tennis games/contests (which will get more balls over the net today? the backhand or the forehand?) Also, good tips help. It is so easy to make unforced errors and it just makes you want to quit sometimes! Good strategies that cut down on errors are encouraging. (ex. go crosscourt because the net is shorter, the court is longer, and its your natural follow through.) Also, tennis is such a diverse game that you want to teach a game that fits their personality. You dont want to teach a serve and volley game to a naturally tenative person!! Anyway thats all I can think of right now!! hahah!! Thats a hard topic to write 3 pages on!! Just double space it i guess!! hahah!! good luck!! :D

We Answered:

the national curriculum and strategy according to age of students and subject area, visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, reading & writing, depending in which teaching domain you come under (technical, personal, critical and there's one other that i can 't remember!) might depend on what sort of teaching and learning strategies you focus on

Learning/Teaching Strategies in Political Science Philippine Setting?

We Answered:

I lived in the philippines for 7 years, and taught graduate school. The Philippine teaching stratagy is to pursue the US model, which makes it just lip service. In reality, Philippine politics is all about family and tribal allegiance, with the consequence that the central government is not only weak, but utterly corrupt (by western standards)with nepotism and favoritism. However, in the Philippine culture, such is the expected norm.
