We Answered:

reading and writing

James Said:

what is the difference between teaching and learning? How they are defined?

We Answered:

teaching is giving knowledge to someone else, learning is gaining knowledge for yourself.

Holly Said:

How does reflecting on your learning and experiences teaching benefit you?

We Answered:

You learn what works best with different students, what approaches to take, what lessons they enjoy and take the most away from it. You learn the most effective or ineffective way to communicate.

Marshall Said:

To be certified to teach do you take the Principals of learning and Teaching and one Praxis II in content area?

We Answered:

You have to take the PLT and also content area tests, but you may have to take more than one test for your content area.

For some of the tests, like Social Studies, you have to take two content knowledge tests, just like I had to here in Kentucky.

Also, I would recommend you get some study guides off Amazon or Barnes & Noble. The Cliffs TestPrep version really helped me in Social Studies. I would not recommend the Cliffs TestPrep for Principles of Learning and Teaching however, it was useless, and didn't help at all.

But seriously study as much as you can. You don't want to be like one guy I know who had to take the PLT three times. These tests are WAY to expensive to take more than once. Get a good night's sleep and make sure you get there early too. They don't play around with the time schedule.

Peter Said:

What is the difference between learning theory, teaching theory, and pedagogy?

We Answered:

the learning theory pertains to the student oriented reason on how they can learn in the way they do such as the learning styles, habits, etc.

Teaching theories on the other hand tries to answer the student needs to learn by adjusting the methodology based on the students learning style.

pedagogy is different as it has something to do with enforcing learning to young children regardless of their learning style
