Teaching Assistant Job

Angel Said:

Should I pursue this assistant teaching job?

We Answered:

I would say the same as your other responder. I have several other suggestions. They may help you. Examine the faculty and see how many experienced faculty there are on the staff.

More information may help you to succeed. It can also assist you in making a decision to accept a full-time teaching position in the school if it is offered. First, if you can afford it join a state-wide professional organization as quickly as possible. That will help you to show professional growth in your community. Develop a plan where you may be able to make home visits to your students' homes. That will also help you with the community relations. However, first talk to the principal to get official approval for your plan. Begin several relationships with the experienced teachers. Ask their advice and solicit their opinions about the community, the administration, and the students in the school.

Any one of these actions of involving yourself in the school community will help you now and later.

Ben Said:

Appropriate notice for a teaching assistant job?

We Answered:

Are you absolutely sure that notice period isn't given? It would be very unusual to leave a clause like this out of the contract. If it's not stated it's usually your pay-period. So if you're paid monthly you get a month, if weekly a week. Teaching contracts do have some standard terms and conditions such as working until the end of the term or school year, so you need to fully read your contract.

We Answered:

LouLou I can't help you personally but if you follow this link to A+ Resumes for Teachers they specialize in teacher resumes, cover letters and interview help. They have like 20 samples there and if it looks too tough you could always hire them.

Leona Said:

Can a teaching assistant job lead to being a fully qualified teacher?

We Answered:

No...

You need to be certified as a teacher. Under the NCLB laws, not only to you have to have a teaching certificate but also be a highly qualified teacher.

Why would you think that someone without work and education could jump into a position as a teacher:) No one would be out there working their butts off and spending the money for education if there was not a need for a degree.

Not to be rude, you understand!

Rachel Said:

Teaching Assistant Job....

We Answered:

You should definitely take the position. I had to sub for a year before finding a full-time classroom teaching position of my own. That experience will only help you in interviews, with experience, and when you have a classroom of your own! Get your foot in the door and get that experience. It'll be great for you.

Experience is experience. Subbing, assisting, whatever... it's all good.

Best of luck!
