Teaching Assistant Salary

Brandon Said:

Does anyone know what a level 3 teaching assistant salary is?

We Answered:

Hi,
A level 3 teaching assistant is slightly misleading. Normally that means a teaching assistant with NVQ level 3. There is no national scale so this is the school who requires this. Other schools may ask for something else depending on how they want to use the TA.
Unless stated otherwise most TAs are appointed on a term time only contract. This means that the annual salary is divided by 52 and multiplied by 39. i.e. 52 weeks in the year and 39 weeks in a school year. So a TA on 18,000 per year will earn approx 348pw multiplied by the weeks worked means you actually earn 13,572.
However this then is paid each month over the year.
The London allowance doesn't mean a lot to TAs as it is designed for teachers. TA salaries are pretty much the same across the UK.
Sounds daft doesn't it.

Gloria Said:

What salary is a higher level teaching assistant on? What if the contract says term time only?

We Answered:

Salary can work 2 ways:

Firstly you will only be paid for the projected amount of hours you are due to work in the school year, this obviously takes holidays into account, this will added together and divided by 12 to give you a monthly payment.

Alternatively, some governing bodies prefer to pay you on a monthly basis, therfore only reveiving payment for hours you have worked in that month, which can mean a dry spell over the lng summer holidays.

You could expect to earn upto 19k.

What is the average salary for a CO teacher or Teaching assistant in Egypt at an International School?

We Answered:

I can't say really, maybe a 2000 Le per month, thats all i can fathom. Maybe u get more just because its an international school unless if u have a foreigner nationality like an American one, u get paid in $$ so rather than the 2000 Le u get 2000 $ which is a big cash considering cheap prices n Egypt.
