I know of one program in Japan that is called JET. The one
in China is called Eduational Services Intl but this is a
Christian based group that sends teachers to China and other
countries.
I would suggest you ask at your local community college about programs and maybe volunteering with the ESL programs.

In fact i think that people teaching english in asia have had good sense to go where the work is, makes more sense to travel to asia to teach asians english than have all those people try to go to the UK or US to learn the language.

You could try Thailand. I knew of several non-native English speakers who had found jobs teaching there. An MA in English + TESOL would be more than enough for many positions.

I know for sure that you cannot teach in Korea unless you have a passport from one of the native English speaking countries.

Of course, if you are from East Asia yourself, you can probably find a good job in your home country with your degrees.

i'm from Malaysia and as far as i know, South-East Asia don't hire teachers over 60, not at schools. but i'm sure she could give private tutoring if she wants to... because i know teachers get real lousy pay in Malaysia, no matter the qualification(s). i'd rather she became a tutor.

and as far as i know, we use british english in Asia, not American english

i have a friend that just went to korea with a education degree (B.S) and was offered 35k a year as an english teacher. u should probably do the same if thats oyur passion!
