Teaching English In Germany

Teaching English in Germany?We Answered:
It's pretty cool. What is needed there are well qualified, professional teachers who know what they're talking about. In terms of minimum qualifications that means a degree and TEFL Cert. The fact that you speak German is an advantage (although not essential). However, do you have a passport from the EU? Without it you will find it hard to get a residence permit there to allow you to stay and work.
It might be the case that it's easier to find work and a residence permit in places like Asia where more Americans tend to go to teach.

how do i get a job teaching english in germany? We Answered:
Try looking at the Dept of Defense website. They hire people to go to countries like Germany and Japan to teach English. They'll pay you and send you there and everything. I looked into it a few years ago, but decided to go to grad school instead. You don't need to know German.Arnold Said:
How do I go about teaching English in Germany? We Answered:
Germany is a great country to teach in and for the right person, a brilliant place to live! In general you'll need a degree and a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate to get a visa and work.So your plan to do a 4 year degree is fine. It can be in any subject but English is good. Then you'll need a TEFL certificate. This can be taken either in-house or online at your own pace which is a much cheaper option (see http://icalweb.com). Any reputable TEFL cert is fine for an entry level job.
That's the basics. German schools are looking for professional, well motivated teachers. You will have the basic qualifications but if you have some experience it will help a lot in getting the first job. Is there a way you can get some teaching in locally? Perhaps newcomers to your community or something like this? The more you have, the better it will look on your resume and the better chance you stand of getting work.
The next hurdle, however, is more difficult. You'll need a work visa. If you don't hold a passport from an EU member state this is going to be difficult but not impossible. In all likelihood, you won't be able to find work by answering online ads from outside Germany. What is probably the best bet is to actually visit Germany and then try to get work. If you find a school which needs a teacher you may be able to work there and have them help organise your paperwork and sponsor you.

Teaching english in Germany.?We Answered:
There is a huge demand for ESL/EFL teachers all over the world. My girlfriend will be pursuing a TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) certificate at CSUS next semester. A lot of universities offer similar programs. You can get away with having just a 2-year degree to teach English abroad in a lot of places, but many places (such as Japan) want a 4-year degree for their programs.
