Teaching English In Saudi Arabia
Calvin Said:
teaching english in saudi arabia? We Answered:
I have worked in the Middle East (not Saudi) and it will be very difficult for you since you are recently qualified - the Ministries want at least 3 years experience. You can keep an eye out at the eslcafe.com and post on the forums for information.
You cannot enter Saudi without a sponsoring company and I would think long and hard about going there - the boredom and the attitudes get to people - read the forums to see.
Why don't you try another country for a year or so and see how you get on there first.

Any females have English teaching experience in Saudi Arabia? We Answered:
first and foremost excuse our friend Fire above for the FIRY response, i think she might be having a bad day.it is not very common to see women or men with dreads or locks in Saudi, nevertheless I think you should be fine sporting them, don't go changing your style that probably took hours and hours and hours to make :)
keep in mind in what city you will be located in, as you know you might sometimes be required to cover your hair (to a certain extent).

Expat teachers, what was your experience teaching English in Saudi Arabia? We Answered:
I don't teach English but I do teach here. English is THE single most annoying issue my students have (lucky me, I get all well behaved students .. so no attitude or discipline problems)... You can find details of people's experience, pay, recommended places etc from the link below (ESL / EFL)Try this:

How can I teach English in Saudi Arabia? We Answered:
the easiest is to do private tutoring like I do..I used to teach in a school, but found people are willing to pay high dollars for private tutoring..
You just go with the flow.. the children will bring their english books from school, and you just go over what they need for their lessons that day or week.. You can practice talking to them and trying to pull our a conversation from them. Go over spelling and new words.. If you have internet you can find fun educational games on the internet also..
I also found kids love books.. I have from my own children all the Dr. Seuss books and for some reason, the children here love those, colorful and full of fun words to practice english with.

If you don't have relevant qualifications, preferably Masters level, then you won't be able to get a job / decent job teaching English in the Gulf region.Alfredo Said:
My boyfriend just got a position teaching English in Saudi Arabia. He is researching it with his new employer,?We Answered:
Saudi Arabia does not offer tourist visas, and normally issues visitor visas only for people who want to go there to visit relatives. Also, it would be illegal for you be be out in public with him and you could both be arrested by the Religious Police. If he accepts the job in Saudi Arabia then plan on meeting him somewhere else for holidays.
