Teaching Interview Questions And Answers

Constance Said:

Applying for a Teaching Job: What are the possible interview questions (and answers!!)?

We Answered:

The questions will vary, depending on whether you are an NQT or an experienced teacher, and depending on the job that you are applying for. However, here are some suggestions of what they might ask:

They will ask you about your current teaching experience (if you are an NQT, they might ask you about your experiences on teaching practice). Think about what you have learned in particular from the schools where you have taught, e.g. have you taught somewhere with a high percentage of EAL pupils? How did you handle this? Have you had experience with teaching children with SENs? What did you learn? What else can you get from your previous experience?

They will probably ask 'if I walked into your classroom, what would I see?'. Theyll be looking for you to talk about about teaching theory, maybe make some references to 'Every Child Matters', thinking skills etc here. Try and find out what the school's priorities are ready for this question, so that you can include these things in your answer. Looking at the prospectus will often give you a feel for this.

They'll ask you what you feel you can bring to the role - think here about what your specialism is, and any areas where you are particularly knowledgeable and skilled.

They might ask you how familiar you are with the Primary Frameworks for maths and literacy, so make sure you know about them. There are also other initiatives linked in with these, such as the new APP frameworks for assessment, so it would be a good idea to have a look at these so you know what they're asking you about.

They'll probably give you a scenario and ask how you would deal with it - common examples are things like: 'A child in your class is showing inappropriate behaviour, what would you do about it?' or 'A parent comes to see you and is angry about something, how would you sort the situation out?'. Think about these ones carefully - maybe look at the school's behaviour management policy beforehand if you can, or find out what the management structure is for the parent question (you would say that you would speak calmly to the parent, and if you couldn't resolve the problem, you would ask the Team Leader/Deputy Head or whoever the school has, to help you out).

They might also ask you to teach a part of a lesson - often they'll ask you to do 15 minutes in a maths class. If this is the case, plan something that involves all the children, gets them a bit excited, but not so much that you can't contorl them well.

I hope this is helpful to you! You can e-mail me if you want to ask anything else.

I am going for a job interview for a teaching position. How do I answer the question What do you have to offer?

We Answered:

By all means sell the assets you bring to a teaching position. What you are capable of achieving with students that is needed in the school system, like: unique instructional strategies that engage students in class activities; reality based approaches in presenting daily lessons; individualized instruction for students who require a different approach; creative design in planning for your class presentations; commitment to the field of education; qualifications in more than one area (makes you more marketable) ; extra-curricular
talents; excellent communication skills (PR) and record keeping skills, there will be a lot of this.,

Classroom/ Teaching Assistant Job interview questions and answers?

We Answered:

They'll probably ask how you work in a team, strengthes and weaknesses.

They may also ask about what you might do in certain circumstances - depends on the type of school you're working at or the children you are working with.

These are the types of questions you may get asked as a special needs assistant (this is what I'm looking for in my jobsearch)

How would you handle challenging behaviour?
What do you know about (insert disability)?
Provide an example of a child.student you have assisted in the past and how you assisted them

Hope this helps

teaching assistant interview questions and answers?

We Answered:

That depends on what skills you have. There is no point telling them something you cannot do. The main thing is to think about your qualities, Are you good at art, music, anything which may help with the children. Good Luck.

I need some suggestions, tips and interview questions/answers for teaching job interview.?

We Answered:

!. The answer to any question that you don't know the answer to is this:

"I do not really know how I would handle that situation, so I would go to one of the veteran teachers that I work with and ask her for advice."

They want to hear that you respect your coworkers and trust me, no one wants to hire a teacher who thinks he/she already knows everything anyway!

2. Be friendly! Smile, laugh, show them that you are a good person to work with. Principals are not only looking for someone who knows their stuff, but who will make a good fit for their school.

3. Another tip I have is to go online and look for a list of teaching interview questions. You can find them easily with a yahoo or google search. Print them out, and practice them. It will make you feel so much more prepared and will get you in the mindset you need to be in.

Good luck!
