Abu Dhabi schools/universities really take care of their teachers, especially if you are western, they will give u a good pay either way and u will be comfortable ( If they also include your accommodation u will be rich here )
generally its a pretty safe city, but like anywhere else in the world play safe and dont flash out whatever u get..
Rent prices DID increase but i doubt it would be that difficult for a teacher to pay, studio apartments can go for 15-25k AED

Most jobs are in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. There are a number of international schools, Universities, private English schools and military institutions which require teachers. The pay will depend on where you work. Private lessons are also available amongst the large expat population (and their children).

Generally speaking the schools will want General English, the Universities English for Academic Purposes, the military institutions English for Special Purposes and so on.

Some schools are owned and operated by locals, others are internationally owned and operated and these latter schools tend to offer better conditions and a more career oriented path for teachers.

If you can live comfortably depend only on your life style and I do not know what you call comfortably. Same case for saving money.

For some people going out to bars every night belongs to a comfortable life style in in this case the salary would not be enough at all.

Others do not go out, stay home, buying goods when they are on sale etc., etc. For this kind of life style the mentioned salary is enough and some of it even can be saved.

You also did not mention if only one person has to live of this salary or if you have family.
Anyway, do not worry, cause your accomodation is paid off which would be the biggest burden. Everything else is just in your hands.

edit: if your boyfriend can come and stay the weekend over in your appartment will mostly depend on where you live. some watchmen are stricter than others. Please note, that it is still considered illegal being together in an appartment without being married. Everything will be fine as long as nobody complains

You will prob, be able to get a job in one of the nurseries/daycares here. You could also try to post a job of tutoring students, etc. in some of the school papers. There are many schools around here looking for good people! I know that ACS (American Community School) is still looking for an Assistant Teacher for one of their 5th grade classes.... Then dubai is definitely the place for you !!!. Abu Dhabi though modern - is still lacking the same party animals, lively ambiance comparable only to the Brazilian mardi gras and Carnival and grandeurs as compared to Dubai.

The high fying discos, pubs, mambo and salsa plus the exciting and breathtaking passion of tango and rhumba - you will definitely find them only in Dubai !!!

Dubai will outnumber the party places of Abu Dhabi 3-1! and the crowd is not as open minded as Dubai.

The beach party in Dubai along the Jumeirah with those lively and gyrating music is not to be missed !

I attended once and felt like i'm in one of those "blocos" !!!
