UK Teaching Application Packet?We Answered:
The contents of the application pack depends on the actual local education authority you are applying to teach with. Visit the education authority website, or the individual school website, and it should give you more information. To teach in schools in the UK you must have qualifications in English and Maths (equivalent to high school graduation), a teaching qualification, usually a 3 year degree, police clearance, and a department of education number.
If you are coming from America you might consider apply for teaching posts through a specialist agency, that places foreign teachers into British schools.

Teaching jobs?We Answered:
For Ireland try www.educationposts.ie a lot of schools advertise on there, also try to get a subscription fot the Irish Independent newspaper they have an excellent jobs section every Thursday http://www.independent.ie/.You'll find some information on salary scales here http://www.asti.ie/faq/salary.htm.
And your husband will be required to do an exam on the history of education in Ireland but it's not difficult.
Good luck!

Are you a teacher in England? Please help me with a question!?We Answered:
I would get hold of the British Embassy and ask. Usually it's difficult for a foreigner to find work in overseas schools because the jobs are given to their own citizens first. The UK embassy has a website and should be able to advise you. In some large US cities there are British consulates and they might be able to help. You do need to realize that the British educational system is very different from ours, and they have the same financial and social woes that we do.Erica Said:
What is a good opening line/paragraph in a personal statement when applying for teaching jobs?We Answered:
The opening line should be about why you are applying for the post in question and include how your skills and experience match having read the person spec. I would avoid trying to be too clever with buzz words unless you can use them with congruence. True passion and enthusiasm to enhance young people's learning is far more important and will deliver a lasting impact.
