Katherine Said:
Does it bother you that many children (maybe yours) are taught by unqualified teachers? We Answered:
My wife is a teacher. You wouldn't BELIEVE some of the lazy slobs she has to work with! Clearly some of these teachers are not qualified to be in a classroom. Hand pick your child's teacher after you do some research on them, you and your child will NEVER be sorry!Armando Said:
Need advice: Should I apply for another teaching job?We Answered:
I am a teacher and as harsh as this might seem you have to think about the kids and their education over yourself. I have failed students in the past because they could not manage a class - it is very difficult and unpleasant to do but I had to think of the children's education first. They are the reason you are there. If you are not enjoying your job they will know. If you can't manage the class they will know. If you don't have their respect they will not learn.
Think about them and whether or not this is really the right job for you. If your physical and emotional health is suffering after just one year - how will you cope long term?
It is the schools job to invest time in you - they are responsible for continuing your training so to tell them you are leaving is not a personal slight on them.
Is their a colleague you could talk to who has seen you in the classroom and would give you honest advice as to whether or not this is for you?
It sounds from your question that you actually already know what you want to do - but think carefully - once you leave it is very difficult to get another job.
Good luck - i hope you make the right choice for yourself and the children.

Tough one.How bad do you want to stay in country?
That is the simple question. IF you really want to stay, then put up with that you have to. Find a new way to teach. Try differing things.

What is the best possible way to get a Visa in the UK?We Answered:
Sweetie I hate to be the bearer of bad news. But you aren't getting a visa to the UK any time soon. You don't fit any of the criteria for a work visa, nor a student visa. If you can't afford to go to school (University) here in the US then you really won't be able to afford the international student rates in the UK. You do not possess the education, nor the skills to fit into any of the tier work scheme visa's.You have 3 options open to you at this point,.
Continue your education here. Yes you can. You can apply for a PEL grant. Even a nursing degree will help in immigration to just about any other country.
If you have a parent or grandparent that is/was a citizen of a European country (including the UK) then you may be eligible for either citizenship or an ancestry visa.
Marry a British citizen. That will get you into the country.
I can tell you from personal experience that the UK, England especially, is absolutely beautiful. The UK is a much better place to live, work and raise a family. However I would suggest you save a piece of money and visit England for a few weeks. (however do not mention your interest in immigrating as they will bounce you at the airport back to the US) Even though England seems to be very similar to the US, the 2 countries are actually worlds apart. Oh and you think the English accent is lovely to hear? Go out into the working class communities and see how that English accent treats your ear lol. Drastically different than what we get in the states on tv lol. But seriously, I suggest you visit first, just to make sure it is someplace you would like to live.
If you would like more information on England, just email me. I am an American citizen who lived in England for a while before I married my husband (who is British) We will be moving back to England early next yr.

How do I get into a teacher's assistant job?We Answered:
First of all, you can afford it. It is free tuition and you can get a student loan to cover your books and travelling expenses which you will not pay back until you are teaching.I am in the Essex area, I work in education and my wife is a teacher in the area too. You can do this.
Teaching assistant jobs are increasingly difficult to find because with the introduction of teaching assistant qualifications such as the HLTA mean that for someone with no experience and without formal qualifications, schools are reluctant to take you.
Do you have GCSE or equiv. in Maths, English and a Science at grade C or above?
Do you have A Level or equiv.?
In 1999, I had neither of these. I went to my local college and took an Access to Higher Education course. It is geared for mature students and almost all classes are during school hours so it doesn't interfere with the kids. The course is a year and you can do the GCSEs if you need to as part of the course.
Once you have that, you can apply to Uni. Essex or University of East London would work best if you are in Essex. If you are low income, single parent, you will get full financial support. All BEd. courses (Teaching Degrees) with QTS (qualified teacher status) are free, due to the teacher shortage. Student loans are available, you apply to the LEA and it is usually around £5500 a year which will pay for books and stuff.
Don't give up on a teaching career, you can do it!
