Eva Said:
Were these police officers being racist? We Answered:
From what you say, it looks like mother and daughter were in a hurry. But they should not have stopped at a disable spot.About the officers attitude, yes, you're right. They could have been polite.
Viola Said:
will this get me the job?We Answered:
It's uncertain whether it will secure you a job with them; however, it is never wise to give out so much personal information on Yahoo Answers or any other website. Oh, and it's "favorable reply". There are several other grammatical errors you need to correct.Joshua Said:
Sydney or Melbourne?We Answered:
a) Sydney's cost of living is high, has been compared to that of New York of late. You wouldnt be able to buy a house in Australia, property prices are so high that most Australians will never own their own house. We're all very laidback and relaxed. My suggestion is a regional area, perhaps Wollongong - 1-1.5hrs south of Sydney, close enough for when you want to go to the city yet without the hustle and bustle.b) Depends upon your skill, skilled workers are highly sought after and find it easy to get sponsored into Australia. Check the Australian Immigration website. Typical salary, varies as well. Any Aussie over 21, even in the most basic of jobs gets over $20/hr.
c) We have a high quality education system over here in comparison to some other countries. Public schooling is next to free and private schooling costs from $1500 to $10000 a year. Most teachers are good at what they do, particularly in the private schools. Discipline varies, you will always have trouble makers but nothing too serious.
d) The average working hours is a 38hr week. 9-5 or 8-4 give or take depending on the industry. We work 5 days a week though retail and hospitality work is available 7 days.
e) Our weather is fairly plesant, no extremes, snow only at one or two ski resorts up the mountains. Compared to the UK it will seem rather warm, temps range from 15-30 during the day with the occasional heatwave but rarely over 40degrees celcius. Melbourne tend to experience all 4 seasons within one day. Sydney dont. At the moment you would feel right at home with it miserable and raining in both Syd and Melb.
f) We have medicare to Australia citizens and residents? You can google Medicare for more information. It works much the same as your NHS. Private medical insurance is also availble to help subsidise medical costs, i.e. optical, dental, etc.. as well as any hospital visits or operations avoiding waiting lists of 1-2years.
g) We are a multicultural society, we have alot of italians, greeks, asians, indians, arabs, etc.. Though most people abide by the Australian way of life. You will find city areas tend to have alot more immigrant cultures, i.e. Asians. Here in Wollongong, you only see asians in asian eateries or at the university. Each suburb seems to suit a different culture. I know a number of Brits that are happy here and fit in fine.
h) Crime is minimal, gangs dont exist, robberies you get every where but not a great deal. Depends upon the suburb more then anything. Most crime is domestic related or drugs and alcohol related.

Elaine Said:
I'm from Melbourne, Australia and I am seriously thinking about moving to Italy.?We Answered:
Gosh, this is a difficult one to answer. If you're committed to Italy and willing to turn your hand to anything, then I'm sure you'll make a success of it. I moved to Italy 22 years ago with no clear ideas, put in a lot of work and - fortunately - it worked out well. But then I'm a EU citizen so things are easier.Italy is a package, good and bad. (Don't let the Italians put you off: they're so negative about the country!) Try to learn as much language before you come so you can get a job waitressing or whatever straight away. (Many, many people have already come over with the idea of teaching English.)
Essential to come first just to try it out. You may hate it! Hopefully you'll love it!! Auguri!!!

Edith Said:
Why would these two police officers be rude to my mother? We Answered:
".. It happened to be a handicap parking, and it had a bay just for one car, which was already parked there. My mother just pulled in behind that car, .. "So in other words, she DIDN'T take up space meant for a handicapped person.
Yes, they could have merely warned her and left.
They were just being their usual NASTY self.
Perhaps you could write the department a polite letter explaining that she didn't actually park in a handicap bay? That the nice, over-worked police officers made a mistake?
Good luck!

The Best Music School / University in Melbourne / Sydney? We Answered:
I'm not sure about Melbourne, but in Sydney I would recommend the Conservatorium (part of Sydney Uni)Jack Said:
