Bryan Said:

Substituting Look Good on a Resume?

We Answered:

I had the same situation. I interviewed for 10 positions my first summer out and got no job! After subbing for 1 year, I was hired at my first interview. Hang in there! Absolutely keep the sub on your resume!

Do Minor consumption tickets clear in Minnesota?

We Answered:

youth offender records are sealed at eighteen. be advised that since you have an alcohol problem you may well get a DUI. if this happens during your internship you may well have trouble. you really need to walk the straight and narrow. perhaps seek counseling. be a shame to waste four years of college.

Ralph Said:

Should I drop out of college? What are some other options? Anything at all, anything.?

We Answered:

Get your BA. You're so close, it would be horrible to through it all away. talk to the school psychologist.

Getting your teacher certification in another state while your current license is pending?

We Answered:

yes you can. You will recieve a temp. certificate. that should be normal in most states. When you go to another state make sure you have that as well as all of your transcripts. My only reccomendation is make sure you "clear" your credential before you move back to your home state.

Steve Said:

Please help out wat general courses are needed? what college?

We Answered:

Perhaps you should talk to your pastor, I'm sure he has information available for you.
And the general courses needed depends on the college.

What is the best way to secure an internship or employment as a foreigner in Guadalajara, Mexico?

We Answered:

Without having specific information for your case, I can tell you that with a degree in business, you can do well in a country like Mexico. I was just there, spent a year in that city after I finished my degree in Linguistics. I was teaching English and youre right, you dont want to be an english teacher. YEt, having been there, I saw the enormous area of business. Mexico is increasingly international in commerce, especially since many foreign companies are opening branches there. Even with little SPanish, you could succeed. Oftentimes, English is the working language in major companies. When I was there, I was encouraged to apply to international companies, but my total lack of business knowledge intimidated me and I didnt do it. Still, having criticized English teaching jobs, if you are at the right school (meaning teaching middle-upper class students) you can make good connections especially in business.
I left cause I was starving, and I couldnt get used to the disorganization, corruption and backwardness of mexico, specifically Guadalajara. Trust me, its a disaster, that city. You should go to another one, Mexico city, its way more interesting and beautiful, although it is more dangerous. Stil I wish you the best.
Have you tried looking in local companies which have branches there?

Where to Teach Social Studies?

We Answered:

I have the same degree. Where did you go to school?

Go to the MN teacher headhunter (Teacher Job Fair) party. Not to sure when that is but it is coming up.

There is also one in Sioux Falls, SD.
And one in IA somewhere that is northish, aka above Des Moines.

I actually got my job from the Sioux Falls one. And not to discourage you. I but my name and resume in to about 100 places. I had one interview. And one job offer. and I love my job. It is not an ordinary teaching position.

Go to places others do not want to be. Upper Michigan. SD, MD, ME, MT, ID, AK. KS is always looking, SC and NC

I personally made a list of the states I would want to live based on certain requirements. I think every state has a job board like the MN one. Go onto the job boards everywhere. Many teaching school (St Cloud) have good web boards also.

Doing the online thing I think really sucks. Every single school with a differing way of doing it.

IN any case good luck and do well. Apply everywhere.
