Teaching Jobs In North Carolina

North Carolina teachers, how's your job?We Answered:
Although I do not have many answers for you, I am in the exact same boat as you ! I have asked questions on here a few times about teaching in North Carolina and no one has answered me. I currently live in the Buffalo, NY area where there are VERY few teaching jobs (I have a feeling you might also be from NY..... or PA, OH, .) Here's what I can offer you.....You can go to www.teach4nc.com and you can find pretty much any information about teaching in NC. You can also fill out an online application and choose the districts you would like it sent to. I'm not very aware of the benefits. However, I do know that the state salary for teachers must be at least $29,750. Although most of the districts include a supplemental amount of their choosing (I have seen this ranging from $1,500 to almost $5,000 on top of the base pay.) I can't really answer where you want to look, because it all depends what type of school district you are looking for. On the teach4nc website they include a map of all the different counties available. I'm currently looking into Wake County (which includes the Cary and Raleigh areas.) They seem to be the highest paying county (roughly $34,000 and they offer alot of relocation help.) Wake county has also just released that they will be opening 10 new schools over the next 3 years (3 elementary schools will open in July '09.) However, keep in mind that many wake county schools are multi-track year round schools (meaning the teachers teach on tracks of 45/15... teach for 45 days and get 15 off all year.) The school year "Starts" in early July. I can also tell you that you can go to a website call Sperlings Best Places. On this website you can compare any city to the city you are currently living in. It will give you all the information about the city (economy, people, housing... etc.)
As far as construction jobs- I'm also wondering the same thing. My fiance is currently working in the heating and cooling field here in NY. I haven't been able to find any information on whether or not these jobs are available. What I can say is that the state of NC is booming... that means buildings are going up EVERYWHERE... so I assume construction jobs are easy to find.
I would LOVE to keep in contact with you! Maybe we can help eachother out? You can email me at dorazio312@yahoo.com

Does North Carolina need an English teacher? We Answered:
From what I hear, teachers are desperately needed in North Carolina - especially Charlotte.
