PGCE? PGDE? I need info!!!!!?

We Answered:

I doubt there are no biology jobs in Scotland, but there may well be no shortage.

Although science teaching in the UK is under-subscribed, biology is the least under-subscribed.

I don't think it matters whether you do the PGCE or the PGDE, although the PGDE site only mentions 'Scottish secondary schools'...perhaps a PGCE would be better?. Either way, you will have qualified teacher status (once you have completed your NQT year).

http://www.tda.gov.uk/Recruit/thetrainin… tells you about PGCE

http://www.teachinginscotland.com/tis/12… tells you about PGCE.

An alternative would be the 'learning on the job' GTP. Very hard work though (the PGCE course is hard work, but at least you are not full-time teaching as well):

Morale? Well, 4 out of 6 newly-qualified teachers leave the profession within their first 3 years. Don't know if that's UK figures or just England, but it certainly tells you something.

It doesn't make you a bad teacher if you don't like teaching rude and unmotivated students (none of use do), but it will make your job a zillion times harder. It's best to face facts: most teaching jobs in the UK are pretty tough and schools which have motivated and pleasant students are likel to be over-subscribed when jobs are advertised.

If you want to find out what is being taught, then look at

and

http://curriculum.qca.org.uk/key-stages-…

for keystages 3 and 4.

If I were you I'd go back to Korea for another year (long-distance relationships are very hard) and then decide on a plan of action when you and your girlfriend are both ready to return to the UK.

Will someone proof read my error for grammatical and punctuation mistakes?

Has there ever been a person in your life that has inspired you to do something or just astonishes you with their achievements? For me that person is my old teacher Mr. Griswold, the most self motivated person I know. No matter what comes his way, he endures it, conquers it, then moves on to the next challenge. Throughout the year Mr. Griswold talked about his life back home and how he once worked on the family farm for little and sometimes no pay and how he had side programming jobs paying him more than one-hundred dollars an hour. He always preached that if you work hard, no matter the physical toll, it will always come back in your favor. One of the myriad of things that he preached like dogma was that perseverance conquers all things, and that all things are completed with time; nothing should be rushed.
From the beginning, he worked hard and long days. He started offf working on his family farm 7 days a week for more than 12 hours a day. Most people nowadays don’t even know what hard work is, but Mr. Griswold set the example for me and all of the students in my class. At an age when most people are planning their retirement, Mr. Griswold is looking for a new job. He inspires me to do well and to try to live my life to the fullest every day. This unusual man is a combat veteran from the Vietnam War, as well as a hardy man inside and out. He reminds me of the stout frontiersmen who had to settle the West despite the inherent dangers. After his service with the Marine Corps he went to college and got a degree in accounting and computer programming. Even though he is over 65, his energy and enthusiasm remain unabated; he still teaches fresh young recruits at Parris Island South Carolina for the Marine Corps and also holds a teaching job in Scotland County.

Mr. Griswold has accomplished much in his life and the thought of quitting has never entered his mind,. He inspires me with such an astounding feeling of fervor that it would make even the toughest man shake with overwhelming pride. Mr. Griswold’s health has been a concern lately and even after being diagnosed with 2 types of cancer, he is still working like a machine to teach young students, and train new soldiers. It is people like him who epitomize the toughness of our forefathers and the founders of this country. They enrich the lives of others by personally demonstrating the qualities that make a fulfilling life, while providing a legacy of enthusiasm for learning to those they encounter on their way. Mr. Griswold 's inner strength, perseverance and dedication have had a profund effect on my life and I believe he is a wonderful role model for each and every one of his students.
