Teaching in New Zealand/Australia?

We Answered:

we are currently in the process of emigrating to australia.it costs about £5000 if you go through an immegration group. This is a good option as the mountain of forms you have to fill in is endless. If you get it wrong yourself the aussie government will charge you again to reassess your revised paperwork. That aside it will be well worth it if it works out.You also have to pass a strict medical, police check etc.Go for a visit, about 60% of brits emigrate without ever seeing oz,40% return to britain within the first two years.Good luck,...May even see you there for a barbie.

Working in Italy???

We Answered:

No, let ME explain something to you. You have an EU passport, so you are eligible for any job in Italy. You can enter the country without so much as a passport stamp, but once you find work you need a letter from your employer (or a copy of your contract) to take to the Questura (or immigration office, depending on the city) and they'll give you a renewable one-year work permit. Trust me, I did all this in January 2005.

There aren't a lot of jobs available for non-Italian speakers besides teaching English and working in bars. My friends and I were all well-educated (we all had Bachelor's degrees, some had Master's degrees) and we had very little success applying for professional jobs. Even if the job is performed in English, Italians would rather hire an Italian who speaks crappy English over a Brit or American (with EU passport) who speaks perfect English.

By the way, you don't mention your education. There is almost zero possibility of you getting a job without a degree. Students really expect their teachers to have SOME kind of Bachelor's degree, even if it's not related to English. I don't know of any schools that would hire a degree-less person, though I know lots of schools that don't require TEFL certificates. The best website for TEFL jobs is below. Hospitality jobs are usually given on the spot. Show up looking cute and using your best Italian, and keep your fingers crossed.

Teaching full-time (about twenty-two hours per week) should NEVER pay below EUR 1000 net. I don't know the going rate for bar jobs.

Finding a job teaching english in Taiwan (Taipei)?

We Answered:

If you are a NZ Citizen you can try and come here on a Working holiday program set up by the Youth Council.

Who Can Join?
The working holiday visa is designed for young Aussie and Kiwi travelers who want to come to Taiwan for a holiday, but who wish to subsidise their expenses and experience the local culture by doing some casual work. If you’re looking for a full-time job or long-term study, then it’s not for you. With a working holiday visa:

? You can work legally in Taiwan, but can’t work for the same employer for more than 3 months.
? You can take formal Chinese language courses at a choice of recognized universities and language canters in Taiwan for up to 3 months.
? The visa is multiple-entry and valid for a year.
? You can stay in Taiwan for 180 days, and then extend for a maximum of another180 days if you wish.
? You must be aged between 18 and 30 years and be a citizen of either Australia or New Zealand.
? The visa application process should take around 3 days.

Mäori tamariki and tuakana - what does this mean!?

We Answered:

Tamariki is children, I think tuakana here is youth (tuakana refers to older brothers and sisters).

Additional: I've checked with a friend who is fluent in Maori - in this context the phrase tamariki and tuakana means children and older ones.

Is it difficult to find a teaching job in QLD?

We Answered:

there is an extreme shortage of teachers in Australia, especially in the country towns.

Daryl Said:

How can I stand out to get a teaching job in QLD?

We Answered:

I live in country Victoria so am not too sure about Qld but in my area schools advertise vacancies in the local newspapers. Otherwise check the web lots of organisations advertise vacancies on line.If you are prepared to work in rural areas then it is much easier to get a teaching job than if you insist on working in the city.
