If you're still in high school, or even just a year or two out, I'd check with your guidance counselor for advice. I just received a print-out of entrance requirements from my jr. high son's guidance counselor with all of the requirements for entrance into our state's colleges (Florida). The requirements are pretty eye-opening(as far as minimum gpa's accepted, essay requirements, and other things you wouldn't necessarily think of).

If you are no longer in contact with your high school, the only other best way to find out would be to call the colleges directly and ask for the admissions department. They should be able to give you the guidance you need to get into their school.

Chicago is more known for economics and business related fields, as well as some of the sciences.

MrsMitchell is right in the respect that you can get your degree where you want to and move to wherever and teach. Getting a degree in the state that you wish to teach would be a pretty good idea because the college or university you graduate from can certify you to that state's department of education. Getting a degree someplace other than the state you want to teach in creates a few extra steps for you, but not enough to dictate that you go only to a college or university in a particular place.

Bottom line: go to Concordia in Chicago like you planned and worry about applying for certification/licensure later.
