WHAT do you think about all these colleges.......if i want to get an engineering?

We Answered:

First, what sort of engineering are you talking about?

Second, are you looking for a trade school, or a traditional 4 year university? Some of the schools you listed don't even offer bachelor programs.

Third, most of those schools you listed obviously DON'T have any engineering programs to begin with!

Do some more research, and come back when you've got maybe 4 or 5 real choices. I mean come on, do you REALLY think that a art college or music conservatory will offer any engineering classes?

In California, is it better off for me to transfer to a private university than to a CSU or a UC?

We Answered:

Thanks for your interest in Cal State East Bay (CSUEB). Please consider the following when deciding your next steps.

We will be accepting upper-division transfer applications for Spring Quarter 2011; applications will be accepted Aug. 1-Aug. 31. However, because the California Governor and Legislature have not yet adopted a budget, CSU does not know how many students it can admit. While CSUEB will process applications conditionally, no offer of admission will be sent until we know more about the budget, including funding to support an increase in CSU’s enrollment.

Once a budget is adopted, CSUEB’s Office of Admission will notify students about their options:

(1) if the budget provides funding to increase CSU enrollment, CSUEB will finalize its review of students’ admission eligibility for the Spring 2011 quarter, or

(2) if the budget does not provide additional funding to increase CSU’s enrollment, students will have the option either of (a) requesting that their admission application be changed from Spring 2011 to the Fall 2011 quarter, or (b) requesting that their admission application be withdrawn and the application fee be refunded.

Good luck!

Is it better to go to a University of California or a private college like Holy Names University or St. Marys?

We Answered:

Nursing first. UC schools don't offer undergrad nursing (except UCLA, and that's a really new RN to BS program). The CSU system has a LOT of nursing programs up in Nor Cal. Don't ignore the CSU system because they are your best value. CSU schools have low tuitions and pretty good reputations -- they are the cheapest BSN programs in all of California. Almost all the CSUs have some kind of nursing program. Off the top of my head, in Nor Cal your choices are CSU East Bay, SFSU, SJSU, Sac State, Sonoma State, Chico State ... heck even CSU Stanislaus has a BSN program!

Holy Names and St. Mary's are good, too, and they offer good programs. So does Samuel Merritt in Oakland (via Mills or just thru Samuel Merritt). But private schools are expensive.

If you want to do pharmacy, while PharmD programs are still letting in some people without bachelors degrees, many programs favor people who have completed their bachelors degrees. In that case, it's good to go to a UC school. If you can get into Berkeley or Davis, by all means go for it! UCSF is the best pharm school in the US. Period. But UoP in Stockton and Touro in Vallejo have PharmD programs, too.

Ron Said:

Do you think its a good idea or not? open for opinions?

We Answered:

I don't think your ready to go anywhere Why ? becaise something as important as this is a decision only a qualified person could decide on. Think long and hard becaise this is injected into a very important time in your life when the wrong decision could cause an interference with your education. Someone out here on the web should not be making those decisions for you. As far as an OPINION goes that would lead into a decision influenced by a total stranger. I for one would however consider my education. IF you believe in yourself and your relationship and you could handle this with all the changes then go for it, after all its only an opinion your seeking. Reread your question and you will see that you, yourself said a mouthful. Marie V

I wanna go to NYU, but im going to Holy Names University, Oakland Ca. the fall. What can i do?

We Answered:

Spend a year or two getting your basics and maintaining a great GPA. Try and work in some extra curriculars as well. Then look into transferring to NYU. It's not ideal, but it'd be better than not going to NYU at all.

What is the definitions of Practical Arts or Primary Arts?

We Answered:

The answer is in your textbook. It is such a general question that when I Googled it, the results were all over the map. Practical and Primary are very generic words.

Your question reminds me that in the University of Michigan, they have a college called "Literature, Science and the Arts."

I have looked for fifty years for a topic that was studied in a university that could not be classified in one of those three categories.

Here are the results from Google to your question, as posed:
