Paix - there are two easy ways to get from Belmont in Lakeview to Northeastern Illinois University (5500 North St. Louis). Both ways take about 45-60 minutes depending on traffic.

1. Take the Belmont (#77) bus going west to Kimball. Then take Kimball (#82) north to Catalpa and walk one block west to Northeastern.

2. On Belmont take the Clark (#22), Broadway (#36) or Sheridan (#151) bus north to Foster. Take the Foster (#92) bus going west to St. Louis.

I don't think you have to. I just visited their site and I saw that you only need a ACT composite score of 19, that's pretty low and not many Universities that accept 19's will recommend an essay.

As far as I know, there isn't much poppin' in Albany Park, but if you go further east you could probably find something on the outskirts of Lincoln Square. Albany Park is probably your most affordable option, if that's a consideration.

Also, if you pick an area that's further east, you'll probably have to take the bus to campus, but it shouldn't be too bad. You could also check out Edgewater or Uptown. Both are further east as well but have a lot more to offer in terms of amenities and you're close to the Red Line if you want to go to Lakeview or Lincoln Park.

NEIU requires a minimum 2.0 GPA from all colleges and universities attended. If you have attended more than one college, we will reconfigure your GPA between all colleges so it is possible you could be admitted with a 2.63 GPA. If for some reason you are denied admission, you can appeal our decision by writing a letter explaining why your GPA does not meet our admission requirements and even include two recommendation letters.
