Alan Said:

Do Universities Check transcripts, by calling all colleges previously attended?

We Answered:

As far as I'm aware they'll only check the school you got your qualification with and not the other ones.

What colleges in Ohio have a Deaf Ed major?

We Answered:

I think that BGSU is the only one, but check out The University of Toledo as well. I graduated from UT 16years ago in Spec Ed, and orig started with a Deaf Ed Major. I switched to CD/LD ,now its called mild to moderate, because there are not many jobs out there for deaf ed instructors. I used to teach at the only elementary in my district that had deaf ed units. At one point, long ago, they had 11 units, now they are down to 3, and in danger of losing another one. I teach high school sped now and we are barely hanging on to the two teachers we have for it. The reubella and measel oubreaks that caused the population explosion of HI kids in the past is gone now.

If its your dream to teach deaf ed, go for it, but you may want to research job availability and be prepared to move. I teach for a large urban district in North West Ohio, typically our teachers are the only ones to services deaf kids, even from the surrounding districts.

What do you think of these colleges?

We Answered:

I attended Penn State, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is larger than all the universities above, except for Ariaona State.

Penn State is considered one of the top 5 undergraduate universities in the country for at least the following disciplines
Meteorology-undisputed no.1
Turfgrass Science-undisputed no.1
Geography
Landscape Archtitecture

I don't remember the other disciplines they are strong in. I have a good friend who received his BS in Accounting from Penn State, now has his Doctorate, teaching at prestigious Miami of Ohio. He is co-writing a cost accounting textbook for Mcgraw-Hill.
My friend in Meteorology has his MS, and is a manager for one of the largest environmental services companies in the world.

I'm sure the other universities you listed all have their strengths and weaknesses. Good luck in your search.

Rene Said:

Which colleges should i apply to?

We Answered:

You can apply to as many colleges as you like, but you can only attend one school. Why not apply to all of them? See which one accept you and give you the most financial aid. If you can get full ride to one of this school, then go that school.

Steven Said:

Are there optional music classes for nonmusic majors at any of these colleges?

We Answered:

Almost all schools will offer music lessons and classes for non-majors, but any one-on-one instruction won't be free, for majors or non-majors.
