Has anyone heard of Richmond University in London? We Answered:
I've been looking into attending this university because I'm going to be studying abroad in London in spring. Richmond is an American university situated in London. The only American college in the UK in fact. As to whether British people attend it, I'm not sure. I do know that part of it is situated in Kensington. Kensington is the most affluent and richest neighborhood in all of London. It's scattered with decorative parks and gardens and houses that sell for millions. It also has a wonderful shopping scene and has been named one of the best shopping places in London. If there were safe neighborhood in London, it would be Kensington. As to whether how great a college it is, varies. Because it's an American University, it's hard to compare it to British college because they are so different. Since you are studying abroad, the likely hood that you would be going to some great British college are rather unlikely. Usually top of the line college don't take in study abroad students, because they would rather have students that attend year round. As for prices. If your using a study abroad program, I'd suggest an all inclusive plan, that covers housing, tuition, meals, etc. These plans look very expensive, but in the long run they save you more money. I suggest you go to google and find "American Institute of Foreign Study" They have really good programs. They even offer a free 3 day excursion to Paris if you go to Richmond University.Shannon Said:
I am thinking of going to Richmond University in London this fall, what should i pack and where should i stay?We Answered:
English universities don't have dorms. Instead, we have student accommodation but that differs from place to place. Some places have 'halls', where they have lots of rooms all on the same corridor with communal kitchens/ bathrooms. Some places have blocks of flats, with 6 or 7 bedrooms, and a communal kitchen and bathroom. If I were you, I'd stay in student accommodation for the first year. That way, you'll be involved in student life, you'll get to mix with other first years, and you won't become lonely and isolated.
Also, I would think that in London, the student accommodation would be cheaper and easier than private. It also means you don't have to find anyone to live with yourself.
More importantly, make choices based on what you want, not what your parents want. It's your life.
