Will the ib program help in a small private college?

We Answered:

Scholarships are generally based on a students academic performance - GPA and standardized test scores (ACT or SAT). IB will prepare a student for college level classes, which is helpful in the realm of saving money because the student that is prepared can succeed in college and finish on time. Also, if the student takes and scores high enough on the IB assessments (I think they are on a 7 point scale), college credit can be awarded. This depends on the types of courses and how well you score, but that is helpful as well. The program also lets a school know that the student is capable of college level work, which is helpful for admission purposes. Private Christian schools are often looking for students that can both succeed in the classroom and make a valuable contribution to the community. If IB helps your student develop as a person, it will help prepare them for the college experience. I encourage you to contact your student's admissions counselor to discuss further - they will have access to more details.

What are my chances of getting into a big four firm in accounting from each university?

We Answered:

Michigan has a very well known accounting school and I'd think top half with athletics and some salesmanship will do the trick there.

no idea about Spring Arbor -- never heard of them.

Marsha Said:

which school should i go to?

We Answered:

Michigan State University. Not just because it is well known, but it does have a lot of good academic programs and it can lead to potential career opportunities. It's a very big school and there will most certainly be a lot of diversity on campus, if that is interesting to you. But Michigan State University is the best.

Opinions on Spring Arbor University's music program?

We Answered:

Hi, I am so glad that you are interested in Spring Arbor University!

The music program at SAU is excellent. The Spring Arbor University music department believes that music, as both a science and an art, is a gift from God, to be used to express all of the emotions, moods, values and thoughts He has given us.

Spring Arbor University offers a rich environment for musical participation. Interested students are able to participate in several different kinds of performance ensembles including concert choir, chamber singers, concert band, string ensemble, jazz ensemble, flute, saxophone, brass and percussion ensembles; and contemporary-Christian music ensembles. Students perform often in chapel and other University events, and are in demand in area churches. Music scholarships are available to many students, including non-majors, who are active in performance groups and accompanying.

Students are able to work closely with the department’s skilled faculty. Adjunct faculty members provide specific expertise in a variety of areas. An excellent student-to-faculty ratio and small class sizes allow students to receive personal attention and instruction geared toward their own educational goals.

The curriculum and performance ensembles explore many different musical styles. The rich heritage of classical and sacred music is fundamental to the curriculum. Jazz and other popular styles are studied in a variety of settings. Contemporary music plays an important role, and incorporating it effectively in ministry is a key emphasis. There are also numerous possibilities for composing, arranging and producing recordings in the music department’s electronic music studio.

The music department offers a bachelor of arts degree - with six options for a major, as well as an associate of arts in pedagogy. The majors and minor available are listed below:
Majors:
Music major
Music education - instrumental
Music education - vocal
Music performance - instrumental
Music performance - piano
Music performance - vocal
Minors:
Music minor

Excellence in music study requires dedication, self-discipline and consistent practice, as well as talent. Private lessons and recital requirements increase performance skill. Group performance develops interaction skills and knowledge of literature. Courses in music theory and history develop musical understanding and knowledge base. Other required courses are designed to develop specific skills, such as the ability to conduct or teach a woodwind instrument. Specific degree requirements are carefully aligned with national and state standards and are designed to provide a balance of skills needed for success in a chosen profession or in graduate study.

I would really encourage a campus visit,so you can experience the music department first-hand! You can sit in on a music class and meet with a professor. To schedule a campus visit you can call - 800-968-0011 OR visit www.arbor.edu/visit
