What do you think of my appeal? We Answered:
I am going to correct your entire letter, alright? You want the grammar and everything to sound beautiful and intelligent. :)To Whom It May Concern,
I was recently devastated to find out that I was denied admission to Virginia Tech. I felt as though I had much in my favor, such as legacy and attending a small high school in Virginia. At worst, I was expecting to get deferred. I understand that the admissions committee looks at several factors and has a difficult time deciding which students to accept; I was told that I would be evaluated as a whole student and not just in one category.
That said, I would like to clarify a few points. I worked with my school’s college guide on my Virginia Tech application. She informed me of the fact that very rarely do students in my school district break 1000 on the SAT. My school recently changed its curriculum to not only have honors courses, but AP courses as well. However, the school made it difficult for me to take AP courses with my schedule. My guidance counselor recommended all the classes I took throughout my high school career and suggested that I only take regular classes with the schedule changing. I wish I had told him that I would rather take the AP classes, but unfortunately this was a decision made in hindsight. I take full responsibility for the classes I took and the grades I received in them. However, I know that I have grown as a student from my freshman year to my senior year. I have worked harder my senior year to make good grades in all of my classes and I believe that I will excel at anything I put my mind to. Virginia Tech is the only university I want to attend. I feel that I will get more out of the programs of study available at Blacksburg that any other university in the state. I can promise that I will make the most out of my time there.
With all of this being said, I would like to request that you take this into consideration and review my application for admission to the Fall/Spring 2011 term.
Regards,
