More than the overall university rankings, it makes sense to check for individual program rankings based on your proposed area of study.

Rankings are just one source of information that you should consider. The different tables use similar data sets to create the ranking. This tends to include information like % of first/second class degrees awarded, spend on facilities, spend on academics, academic to student ratio.

The one thing to be particularly aware of is you need to decide what's more important to you - the overall ranking of the whole university, or the ranking for your particular subject. There can be big differences and all UK universities rank highly for particular subject areas.

The most important things to check are (a) do you like the course (check the curriculum, what value added features does it offer e.g. internships, study abroad, field trips, guest lectures, active society), (b) do you like the university overall and (c) do you like the town. You also need to find out what the method of instruction is - i.e. how many lectures, how many tutorials - typical class size etc and whether that fits with your learning style.

Some universities have better departments at undergrad and others at postgrad, however the Universities rated best for econ are usually LSE, Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick, UCL and Durham.

As for business degrees at undergrad your looking at Bath, Warwick, LSE, Lancaster but you should check the subject tables rankings for both Econ and Business:

you just need to google this haha...the thing is, the rankings are updated each year, so it's VERY unlikely that anyone on Y!Answers will be able to give you an up to date response. For the UK rankings only, check out the subject rankings on the times online league tables, or the guardian league tables (although personally I haven't looked at the guardian tables, so I don't know if you can specifically look at the veterinary science standings?)

then you can look at a world league table for the same thing =) If that sounds like too much hard work haha: find that page, then use ctrl+F, type in the name of each of those unis, and make a note of their rankings =)

The Broadsheet newspapers often do columns on the 'success' of unis try 'The Times' or 'Guardian' Websites

also bear in mind sucess dosent mean anything as Edinburgh often rates higher than Heriott-Watt university as a sucessful uni but i rate HW engineering and physics dept to be miles ahead, so really you should go and experience the open days (or just visit) to get an idea of the unis your interested in

Dont know much about Ox-Brookes but leeds is a nice city but the uni is questionable from experience i didnt like it when i went the open day.
