University Of Arizona Address

Heather Said:

Do I need to surrender my Minnesota driver's license if I apply for a non-driver ID in Arizona?

We Answered:

It's possible to keep both under certain circumstances, but you have to pay for the privilege. First, if you keep the Minn. DL you have to claim permanent residence there and thus cannot vote in AZ. If you want to vote in AZ you need to get an AZ driver's license and supply other proof (a phone or utility bill will do--but you must surrender your MN DL.
Many students claim only temporary residence in their school state because they aren't sure where they're3 going afterward. My daughter just completed a second Master's, this time in FL, to take advantage of FL having no income tax--and she just got a job in CO.

I need to know about Arizona and Missouri?

We Answered:

Okay, by flight its just a few hours away from Missouri. Now depending where you're flying from: kansas City you'll want to fly Southwest,, as they are a min carrier and Phoenix is a Southwest junior hub and if St Louis, American will most likely give you best deal since that is their hub, but if you can plan this far in advance, the better, you'll save upwards of $300-400. I work in travel and always better if and when possible.

The even is in Tempe, but unfortunately for you there aren't too many decent hotels in Tempe. And contrary to what the gentlemen said before me, there are NO buses from airport to anywhere in the city. You could book a room at The Tempe Mission Palms or the Residence Inn off of 5th & Ash (both of which is right off campus and near all the fun stuff to do) and semi close to where you're going. They are both with 5 to 10 minutes from the airport even including traffic. You could take a bus however to this event on the 44 route which would drop you off near the event and back near the hotels in question.

As far as driving, you'll spend more driving in gas, time and maintainence on your vehicle if you drive, unless you get a nice weekly rate from Hertz and book in advance, they'll give you unlimited milegae and then you can take all the time you need. Its going to be about 2 full days of driving with stops to get here.

Then you wouldn't have to worry about the airport whatsoever and could use the vehicle to check out nicer areas like Sedona or Flagstaff or even a venture to Las Vegas on the way home.

Now as far as the weather, it'll be most likely between 100 and 115 degrees most of the time during day and in the mid 80s to mid 90s at night. So dress accordingly. You can definately get burnt with little sun exposure so make sure that is taken into consideration.

And last, enjoy, Tempe is a fun area, lots of knick-knacky type cafes, used book stores, artsy shops, and of course ASU, a very diverse school with crazy kids, so have a great time

What qualifies as "resident" of Michigan when applying at U Of M?

We Answered:

Based on the information you provided, its hard to say. If your residence is in Michigan, and you claim your son on your taxes, he "could" qualify for in state residency.

I would strongly encourage you to visit with their admissions staff who are the experts on the topic. State residency laws and requirements vary by state, so going to the source is the key.

Here is the link to their residency rules at U of M.

What are global warming scientists afraid of?

We Answered:

What the GW community of scientists fears, is loss of their grant money, inability to be hired or promoted, inability to be published, not being invited to conferences in places like Bali or other vacation hot spots, being taken off the list of invitees for high class parties, no face time on the networks, death threats, and ostrification. All of which will occur if any of them deviate from the party line, that global warming is caused by man, mostly the men who live in the US, and other industrial nations. This reminds me of the climate in Europe in 1100AD. Most educated people knew the earth was round, and revolved around the sun, to say so however brought about a quick trip to the executioner
