University of New England, Armidale? We Answered:
Yes, I currently studying a degree at that uni via distance education and I have an extremely good learning experience at there. I suggest you DON'T considering go to either CSU OR SCU because the staffs of these two universities work at very low efficiencies on both administrative and academic matters.Juanita Said:
UNE - Armidale, whats it like there? We Answered:
You've come to the right place! I am currently living in Armidale. It is definitely more than a small country town! It's amazingly multicultural which I love. The people are fantastic - I've only been here about 1 1/2 years and it really feels like home. It's hard to describe.. but people like myself who've been plonked here think "Oh God", but 1 month later it seems like the best place on the planet. It just has a vibe that no other country town I've been to has.As far as the courses go, I don't really know. It's a very respectable university. And the facilites are fantastic (the reason I was plonked here is that they're upgrading many of the facilities).
Most students tend to live on campus for the first year, then rent a house with a few others for the following years. There's lots of rental housing within walking distance of the uni.... although to be honest it's not the nicest housing. If you have a car your options are better.
I do actually drink a fair bit.... and I can say there is NOT much of a drinking culture. The University has people from all over the world studying who aren't particularly party people and the town itself isn't really a party town. That's not to say they're not fun people... it's the only place I've lived where "melting pot" really makes sense - I love it!
You're more than welcome to email me if you want more specifc info.
The only BIG downside is it's frickin' FREEZING in winter. The days are great, but nights can be very cold.

does ANYONE go to the University of....?We Answered:
Yes they do - at an examination centre there will be 10-20 people sitting exams from universities around the country. The supervisors are given detailed instructions for each and every exam - so no cheating (saying its open book when it is not)
