University of Toronto: are residences open to vacationers?

We Answered:

89 Chestnut is a nice place to stay.

If you're interested in on-campus accommodation, UofT opens their New College Residence buildings to non-students. The rates are much cheaper than what's available at 89 Chestnut.

Here's a link to their website: http://www.ncsummer.utoronto.ca/Home.htm

Hope this helps.

How does an international applicant for toronto university get in without credits.?

We Answered:

Don't worry about college classes while in high school. MOST people don't take college courses in high school, even in Canada and the US. Also, admissions offices are experienced in dealing with international applicants. They have a grade conversion system they use depending on where you're from, what type of program you're in etc. You are not responsible to explain or to convert the transcript yourself. When you apply, you just have to make sure you meet the minimum requirements for admission (it is generally on every school's admissions page) to the school or to specific programs at that school. Then the transcript is up to the school to convert to a system that they use to compare all applicants by.

What school is better for American students, University of Toronto or University of British Columbia?

We Answered:

UBC hands down. And you won't freeze your butt off as bad at UBC. To give you an idea of coolness, consider that UBC has a nude beach. Yet UBC is academically still one of Canada's top schools.

My daughter took her freshman year at the coolest school in Canada, Simon Fraser in a suburb of Vancouver. Myself I lived in Vancouver for 20 years and only left as I was offered a job in LA.

Vancouver is one of the coolest places on earth. And yes, you can go sailing and skiing the same day there.

Toronto is Buffalo but bigger and cleaner.

Also in Vancouver, you are only about 40 km from the US border and there are so many US license plates around, no one will care you are an American.

Andre Said:

does University Toronto really accept students who took applied Science?

We Answered:

Nope.
ALL universities in Canada (Ontario more specifically) don't even bother looking at your grade 9 and 10 marks.

They only accept U (University) or M (College/University) level courses in grade 11 and 12 though. You need to take academic science if you're planning on majoring in Biology in university. In other words, since you took applied science in grade 9, transfer to grade 9 academic science during summer school or next year, then take grade 10 academic science, grade 11 University-level Biology & grade 11 University-level Chemistry (Chem helps a lot in Biology), then grade 12 U-level Biology and grade 12 U-level Chemistry.

That's your only option if you want to study Biology.
You need to take academic science in grade 9 in order to get into academic science in grade 10.

:) Hope that helps.
