Mayan is an adjective in your example, describing the ruins.Rain forests and butterfly fish are probably technically the same, but should be counted as one noun since they would function as such in the sentence.

How do you write the chemical formula when given words (ex: write the formula for: sodium hypochlorite)? We Answered:
First, you need to memorize your polyatomic ions (i.e. hypochlorite=ClO-, carbonate=CO3^2-, phosphate= PO4^3-, etc.)Second, know that if it ends in -ide, it is simply a ion of that element (chloride=chlorine)
If you know that sodium is Na+ and chlorite is ClO-, they come together to form NaClO. The charges must come together to equal zero (- and +). The positive ion always comes first.
Calcium is Ca^2+ and Carbonate is CO3^2- so they come together to form CaCO3.
Zinc is Zn^2+ but chlorine is Cl-. Therefore, you need two chlorines to make the charges balanced to zero.... ZnCl2. (Thats a subscripted 2).
Recap:
-Positive "element" or ion goes first. Negative comes thereafter.
-Charges of the two substances must equal zero.
-Get charges of single elements from periodic table, but need to memorize POLYATOMIC IONS (phosphate, sulfate, chlorites, chlorates, nitrates, etc.).

i have to do an important project for my Physical Science 1 (high school freshman clas)on the element TungstenWe Answered:
Tungsten can be found in lightbulb filaments, Xray tubes, and macine tools such as drill bits, saw blade teeth. It is also used in mining/oil drilling applications. It was first hypothesized to exist by Peter Woulfe in 1779 who examined wolframite and concluded that it must contain a new substance. In 1781 Carl Wilhelm Scheele ascertained that a new acid could be made from tungstenite. Scheele and Torbern Bergman suggested that it could be possible to obtain a new metal by reducing tungstic acid. In 1783 José and Fausto Elhuyar found an acid in wolframite that was identical to tungstic acid. In Spain later that year the brothers succeeded in isolating tungsten through reduction of this acid with charcoal. They are credited with the discovery of the element
