Equivalent Fractions Worksheet
Leon Said:
I need fractions equivalent to three ninths, three twenty-ones, twelve fifteens, ten twelfths, and one tenth? We Answered:
My maths teacher used to tell us"If you do it to the top, you do it to the bottom" She sang it and repeated it until it stuck in our heads.
In this case you want fractions equivalent to each of the following:
1) 3/9
2) 2/12
3) 12/15
4) 10/12
5) 1/10
Using the expression above, if you want to find equivalent fractions, then you have to multiply the top and the bottom by any number.
For example, multiply the top and the bottom fraction by 5 and you get fractions that are equivalent to the original ones.
1) 15/45
2) 15/105
3) 48/75
4) 50/48
5) 5/50
Hope this helps you
:) If you need more examples just do it again multiplying with different numbers.
Gerald Said:
Help me I cant do Equivalent Fraction,Help Im crying!!?We Answered:
your teacher will not kill you. and you /can/ do this. but you haven't given any examples for us to help you with.equivalent fractions are just different fractions that represent the same amount. for instance, 1/2 = 2/4. you already know this, as two quarters = a half dollar. to create equivalent fractions, take any fraction and multiply the top (called the numerator) and the bottom (the denominator) by the same amount. 1/2 becomes 2/4 by multiplying top and bottom by 2. or you could get 3/6 by multiplying top and bottom by 3.
being able to create equivalent fractions will help you to do some math operations with fractions - like adding and subtracting them.
good luck!
