Teens: Ugh, I feel like a failure /:?

I understand how you feel. I'm one of those "honor roll students" as well. I'm not used to getting B's. In fact I've never earned a B on a report card. So it's very frustrating when finally you get to a point where you're struggling to stay ahead of the game. You want to continue being the best, because that's what you're used to, and it's frustrating to not do well. I understand completely. My current year (Junior) is my toughest schedule I've ever had (4 APs and an honors). I currently have a B in my history class and a B in my literature class. I've kind of had to tell myself that I know I'm going to get a B in my history class because no one has ever gotten an A in that class. But it's very frustrating to have a B in a class because of one assignment.

Just remember that in a few weeks, you'll have more assignments and your grade will even out.

Trying to pass; is it worth it?

Geometry is rough, i agree. My advice is to stay during lunch, and talk to your teacher. See if they can give you some extra help. Do you have any friends who are good at it? If so, see if they can explain it differently than the teacher. If that doesnt work, email me at iluvnataliagastain@yahoo.com, and I'll try to help you. Good luck. I wish you the best.

Caught cheating today on a test? Freshman year? How badly will it affect my college admission?

We Answered:

I wouldn't worry about it all too much if you don't plan on cheating ever again. Colleges MIGHT look at it. I'm not sure, but even if they do, I doubt they'll deny you just because of that one incident during FRESHMAN YEAR. They'd probably give you a slap on the wrist. Colleges don't pay too much attention to freshman year as they do to sophomore and junior year. But they do look at ALL grades, they just put more emphasis on soph/jun.yr.

So, my advice is to don't ever cheat again. If you keep on doing it without getting caught, it might be a bad habit and if you cheat in college, they take it a lot more seriously. Also, if you want to get into a University, I suggest you get your grades up. Cs are considered to be "average" grades. Universities tend to be competitive with over thousands of applicants and A LOT of those applicants usually have straight As, As and Bs, or As Bs with some Cs.

Edit: Javare is an idiot.

I think that it doesn't matter how smart someone is, not everyone is cut out to teach other people. Speaking as a mother, one of the reasons I would never consider homeschooling is I know that my personality and my daughter's personality would clash too much. Your father has already proven that he can't effectively tutor you. I think you and your father would be better off if you find someone else to do it.
