I have a 4.5 yr old son who cries anytime he get frustrated, especially with writing. Help!?We Answered:
I think that both you and the school need to re-evaluate your systems. WRITING numbers is not really important right now. Sure, it's great to learn them, but kids are so widely diverse in their development at this age that expecting perfect writing from them is a bit extreme. They should be learning through more hands on and fun activities. It's ok to have them write sometimes, but it should never be a forced thing or a stressful thing.I say calm down and let his numbers be. If they're wrong, so what? It's not like he's going to fail!

How to teach a preschooler to write? We Answered:
All you can really do is encourage her to keep trying. Literally one day it will just click. Try not to show your frustration, you don't want her to feel like she isn't doing good enough and not want to even try anymore. When my kids are learning to write, I went and bought those tablets with the large dotted lines to practice writing. On one side I printed their full names and on the other I put the alphabet and numbers 1-20. I made them with dots, so they could trace them. Then I laminated them so they could use washable markers or dry erase markers on them over and over again. They loved it!

Are there any companies that will mail you free books, worksheets, etc for Pre-K? ?We Answered:
I'm actually against worksheets and such for Pre-K kids, unless they really love them. The ability to learn to read and write are developmental stages, so it's best to leave them until the child is ready to learn, than try and make them. That just creates frustration for everyone. If your child is hanging to get going with the academics, by all mean provide it, just don't push. It really doesn't matter if they learn to read now, next year, the year after, or even the year after that, because they are not competing with anyone else. I'm not really into "busywork" either.http://www.amblesideonline.com is a good place to search around. Also, don't forget your humble public library.
